Minnesota GOPer: God Called Me To Run For Governor -- And To Raise A Miraculous Amount Of Money

Check out this declaration from Minnesota state Sen. Mike Jungbauer, who is now running for the Republican nomination for Governor: That God called him to run -- and he's setting out to achieve a literally miraculous level of fundraising.

Here's what he told a local newspaper:

An evangelical Christian with a degree from the Moody Bible Institute, Jungbauer purposefully set his campaign fund-raising goal in excess of that suggested by experts as a kind of verification he was following the right path.

"I believe if I'm really called by God to do this, and again it's not necessarily called by God to be the governor, but to do the campaign, to do it right, I set the goal quite high when I would have to believe it was truly miraculous (to achieve), and I couldn't say I did it, or they (the campaign) did it," said Jungbauer.

So God has called Jungbauer to run for governor, and to raise a lot of money -- but not necessarily to win and be governor? Talk about mysterious ways.

And yes, Jungbauer's state legislative district is inside Michele Bachmann's Congressional district.

Gee, that's funny, Mike. I was just talking to God this morning and he said that you and Michele are a couple of lying sacks of shit, and if he hears you put words in his mouth one more time, he's going to hit you both with a lightning bolt that'll weld your empty skulls together.

Any bets on when he gets caught paying an under cover cop for a tug job?

I'll betcha he aced Fleecing the Flock 101.

Talk about mysterious ways.

Except Bible fundamentalists don't believe that.  If the answer isn't in the Bible, then God must surely have revealed it to them in their prayers.

Uh oh.  An anal probe launched from deep inside the Michelle Bachmann Nebula.

Confirmation that it is the water.

So I guess if you don't raise the miraculous amount of money, Mike, it means God didn't really tell you any such thing, and you're just crazy.

I'll be watching to see how it turns out.

I was listening in, and that's NOT what God said.

He represents the 48th district, NW of Twin Cities. Anoka County.

All low-end suburb/exurb. These are the people who fled the cities because there were too many brown people there. All living in their cheap little cookie-cutter subdivisions.

I think the current financial bubble bursting has hit fairly hard there.

Low-end, including its very fair share of trailers, aka, manufactured housing. In Blaine (in this district), they actually have ordinary subdivisions with twisty roads like one might expect in the suburbs. But instead of houses, its all double-wides. I have seen it.

As the rightist favour the vengeful God of the Old Testament, it makes sense they are cool with moneylenders in the Temple. But I just hope they know in so doing they have disparaged their Lord, & Saviour, Jesus Christ, & made him fallible.
