Orly Taitz vs. David Shuster

Orly Taitz, the unofficial leader of the Birther movement, appeared today on MSNBC, for a rather...interesting interview with David Shuster, who took particular offense at Taitz's reference to "Obama's brownshirts in the media," noting that invoking the Nazis is especially offensive to people who lost relatives in the Holocaust:

All aboard the Fail Boat.

user-pic

She needs to be invited back, often. Keep her in front of the camera, as often as possible. Give her a whole show on MSNBC, Oprah should have her on. She needs exposure.

user-pic

I'll say it again: she's not terribly effective in person, for which we should be grateful, I guess.

user-pic

She's not effective in person because she's not sane. She's lead spokesman for the birthers for the same reason. No need to be grateful for a tautology.

user-pic

lol

user-pic

This woman raises the bar for batscat crazy.

user-pic

She hysterically denies she is crazy. I guess we should hope she gets a lot of airtime.

user-pic

In five years she'll be running the TaitzingtonPost liberal website.

user-pic

I think we're reaching a turning point on the craziness of this story. The fake birth certificates that are hitting the news today are highlighting what us sane folks have been say:

These are laughable crackpots we're dealing with.

John

user-pic

In the next phase the Republicans will acknowledge the craziness, and the debate will be over to what extent the Republicans pushed this along or whether Chris Matthews somehow invented the whole thing.

user-pic

It is the underlying problem we have with these folks not the birther fiasco. There is something really seriously hateful going on in this country and we need to have a summit or something to try to deal with this craziness. Alas, without the help of the people who are flaming the fires, it won't work.

Sad indeed. The world is laughing at us. It must be hard to accept such ignorance and stupidity in this country. 52% of republicans don't believe Obama's birthright! That is an incredible number.

user-pic

To say she's out of her mind is to do a disservice to the legions of insane people in the world.

To say those who believe as she does are insane is to be far too kind to them.

Most of them are thinly veiled racists, some have no veils whatsoever.

I include our very own chronic nuisance looney, David Farrar in this sorry cohort.

user-pic

Strangely, she reminds me of the dentist in the film Marathon Man.

How can any rational being let this 'crackpot' anywhere near their teeth? And, what reasonable person would engage an attorney with a 'degree' from a non-accredited institution?

user-pic

Is it safe?

user-pic

I've been wondering about that. As I understand it, she identifies herself as an attorney. Has anybody checked out her credentials? Is she approved by the California Bar Association? Has she passed the California Bar Exam? Where did she receive her degree in Dentistry? Has she been licensed by the state of California? Same with her status as a real estate agent. Has she actually passed the examination required to be a licensed real estate agent? When? I'd really like to find out.

user-pic

How much does this idiot get in appearance fees every time she is on these shows spouting her lunatic talking points?

I wouldn't be surprised if that's all it came down to for this idiot... just act crazy and more people will want you on (and who cares if it's to make fun of you?).

user-pic

Can I just ask why you even honor this woman by posting this?

user-pic

obama wasn't vetted!

you know that two and half year campaign? didn't really happen....

user-pic

Whoa. That's a lot of crazy there, but what do expect from a woman who's a combination lawyer, dentist and real estate agent. (No offense to the all the lawyers, dentists and real estate agents out there, but that unique combination seems to have produced a special kind of dog-poo crazy.)

The missing Gabor sister's antics remind me of the scene in the South Park movie of the Canadian ambassador:

"Please, can I finish? Can I finish, please? Please, can I finish? Can I finish, please!..... [long pause] Okay, I'm finished."

user-pic

I look at Orly Taitz and I see an inept drag queen. I am amazed that anyone really believes that's a woman.

user-pic

A true drag queen would have picked a better name than, "Orly Taitz".

user-pic

I'd like to see her mother interviewed, and asked who the hell names their kid after an airport, especially a French one?

user-pic

Deport her

Back to Novogord with Orly

user-pic

Well, for all that EVERYONE thinks these people are a bunch of blowhards, and for all the evidence demonstrating as such, they're sucking up valuable oxygen from the room while WE'RE TRYING TO GET REAL HEALTH REFORM!!

Josh, et al at TPM, please just stop broadcasting this trash. They've been debunked many times over, now they're just taking up face time.

user-pic

Orly Taitz\Michelle Bachmann in 2012, or 2016, whatever..

user-pic

THE REAL ISSUE?? Who will play her on SNL? The new hot one, I thinks (been a long time since SNL had a hot one, too).

user-pic

I'm offended. Tina Fay is hot! Actually, so is Palin, if only she wasn't nuts.

user-pic

Perfect example of how these crazies need to continue to escalate the outrageousness of their hate.

Nothing is to extreme for them and they thrive on it.

palin and the terrorist remarks, the blatant racism of the talking heads, the extreme attempts to prove Obama not "one of us."

And now we see the coordinated attempts to disrupt and intimidate at these town hall meetings.

And when the Obama health plan gets passed as I predict it will ,the frustration that these real haters hoped to have relieved by its defeat will be left with no where to go.

How can violent reactions be far behind?

user-pic

She is a lunatic.

If she was on a little longer she would just have broken down into a racist rant revealing the true problem she has with Obama.

user-pic

It is impossible for me to watch Orly and not 1) feel like I'm watching an over the top SNL skit and 2) hope that she has access very soon to some serious mental health care.

user-pic

The more Orly, the better. If we add her to Sarah, Glenn, Rush, Newt & Sean, we've neatly defined today's Republican party.

(I must say, though, that I think this character is a put-up, like Borat. The wig, the make-up -- she's a send-up, right?)

user-pic

When Andy Warhol predicted that in the future everybody would be famous for 15 minutes, I don't think even he could have imagined that Orly Taitz would make the cut.

user-pic

Actually I think Andy would have gotten a big kick out of Orly, and taken her to Elaine's for the amusement of the crowd, sat back and grinned while she made a first class ass out of herself.

He always like the outre, the odd and the absurd.

user-pic

To quote Burt Reynolds, when asked to respond to a slam from Joan Rivers: "I have a standing policy never to respond to a female impersonator".

user-pic

So Orly also thinks that Obama is illegitimate because to be President both parents have to be U.S. citizens. And that is in the Constitution exactly where?

Oh, I'm being rational, never mind. Also.

user-pic

Who are you to argue with an attorney with a mail-order law degree?

user-pic

Wait a second...That's batshit crazy congresswoman
Michelle Bachman in a blonde wig!!

user-pic

She looks like a bad drag queen impersonation of Dusty Springfield. I mean what is it with her hair? And that raccoon-eyed makeup? Tonya Harding could apply better eye shadow. A better name for her (and would get her more places) would be:
Oily Ti*z (yes that third letter is a t).

user-pic

or "taintz"

user-pic

By this logic, George Washington and all the presidents through Andrew Jackson weren't 'qualified' to be President of the United States: because none of them was born in the United States. Oh never mind the pesky little 'detail' the U.S. didn't exist yet, Orly doesn't seem to mind to leave facts out of things, so why should I with this point?!?!? Martin van Buren was the President who was actually born (1782) in the U.S. after it became a country.

user-pic

Sorry, breakspear, Andrew Jackson doesn't make the cut either. Both of his parents were Irish immigrants, and don't meet the Orly Taints criteria (that to be prez, BOTH parents must be citizens).
I don't know where she got that criterion; must've pulled it out of her...taint.

user-pic

It is essential to continue posting these clips, no matter how errant and inane they are (and Orly Taitz is crazily crazy).

First of all, some of us don't live in areas where cable providers carry MSNBC, so at the very least this provides us a forum for reviewing newscasts where corporate interests don't exert ridiculous amounts of control.

Second, and more important, is that this kind of outrageous stuff must inspire some sort of genuine, active, public response. Without seeing it -- and seeing how frequently the Orly Taitz of the right get air time -- I think that we can lose sight of our need to be aggressive in denouncing it. Just because it's nuts doesn't mean that it isn't persuasive. The challenge for progressives is to get motivated to the same pitch that Orly Taitz is. There's no better motivation than seeing it again and again and again.

user-pic

Amen.

user-pic

I agree. Bill Maher is right. You have to immediately debunk these folks and expose them for who they are.

user-pic

There is only one thing she said in that entire blather of "okokokok letmefinish you'rerudeandbadjournalists GAAAAAH!"

"Who cares about Anne Coulter?!"

Who cares indeed... mwahaha! Seriously though, where is this woman from and has anyone checked into whether she passed the bar? I can't see this woman being a successful attorney considering her inability to answer questions and speak in a coherent manner. She sounded like a chicken squawk squawk squawking away.

Thank god this is the representation of the Birther movement.

user-pic

Do these birthers forget that John McCain was born in Panama?

user-pic

Whether crazy or not, this whack-o misspelled her own last name in the URL she put over top of jpg of the "real" birth certificate.

This dumb-ass, after-birther can't even spell her own damn name correctly, yet this Tammy Fay clown-make-up, bat-shit crazy hack gets on major network television regularly to spew her drivel

Onward and upward for the forth estate.

user-pic

While I agree with pretty much everything everyone has said, I do have to say that Schuster was being quite the dick in this clip. I mean, I know we've basically become desensitized to it, but this everybody-talking-at-once thing doesn't make *anyone* look good. Why not just let her say her piece and *then* go after her again? She doesn't need any help getting agitated and I think it would look better for the Sane People if they were super calm and just let her spout her craziness.

user-pic

Because if he'd let her stop when she was ready, she'd still be talking. He was just trying to get a word in edgewise and keep some kind of control.

Interviewing someone doesn't mean that you're providing them with a soapbox.

user-pic

She's like a combination of Zsa Zsa Gabor and Lyndon LaRouche. That's about the most painful combination I can come up with. I had to come up with that to exorcise her from my brain.

user-pic

Good lord did anyone figure out what she was saying? She sounded like an overused tea bag on steroids, and for crying out loud her make up is just as bad as Ann Coulters, are they birther twins disconnected at birth?
My Myna bird can carry on a better conversation than this methed up tweety bird, Perhaps I should put a tea bag in his beak and send him to MSNBC chanting shes an empty head and I can prove it with here birth certificate from Atlantis.

user-pic

I hope I don't appear sexist, but WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH REPUBLICAN WOMEN? I mean, Orly, Anne Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Bachman, Jean Schmidt (she called Murtha a coward), and that Congresswoman Foxx are all bats*** crazy! What does it say about them when Failin' Palin is the "normal" one?

user-pic

Given the horrible history of the Republican party on women's rights and their disdain for helping anybody other than the wealthy and their hatred of choice, why would you expect any woman who was not seriously warped to support them?

user-pic

Flaunt it, baby, flaunt it.

user-pic

In my interactions with fellow Jews, especially people like Taitz, I often come across the condition she suffers from. It's called acute chronic meshuganosis. Sadly, there is no known cause or treatment.

user-pic

This person is an attorney?

Must have fools for clients.

user-pic

She's also a dentist and a real estate agent.
