Y'know, I grew up in the Reagan years very aware of this stuff, but it just continues to amaze me how passionate these people are about inequality. That is, about preserving and, wherever possible, advancing our most morally-repugnant inequities. All in the name of Free Market GI Jesus.

I mean, think about it, you expect the bleeding hearts to get a little rowdy once in awhile, but these guys -- they've actually got raging mean-ons for maintaining the status quo.

"How OLD are you, Dodd?" How old is Rush Limbaugh? I figure he's about ripe. Can we float him out to sea on an iceflow yet? There ought to be one by shortly, eh?

This is WORSE than McCain Palin rallies. The reason? Whatever you think of the rallies, there was SOME attempt to moderate them (okay not much). These are just unchained pitbulls with rabies. There could be worse things down the road.

The more I see these people, the more contempt I have for the human race. Moving further into the woods with my dog is sounding better all the time. Having utilized a lot of healthcare this year and having had to deal with an insurance company in the process, just setting down under a tree and letting nature take it's course may be a better option than the choices we have today.It's beginning to look like there are not going to be any good options.

Teabaggers are starting to sound like Fred Phelps and his "God hates fags" crew.

I have no doubt these teabaggers know nothing about health care and could care less what changes are made to it (although they would be first in line to take advantage of any lower price single payer alternative).

They are just frustrated, angry and bitter that their Messiah, George Dubya, was a complete and utter failure, and to increase their discontent we now have a Black man a hundred times smarter in that same Oval office.

This is the most shocking thing I think I've read in a very long time; that someone could say such a thing to a man with a potentially fatal illness!

Callous? Sociopaths? The squirrels let loose? Someone in the MSM PLEASE call them on this!!

To think that there's pseudo outrage at Obama's "stupidly" remark and Sotomayor's 'wise Latina" -- and these pieces of less than human garbage won't get a word of coverage, outraged or not?

Conservatives are more animated and engaged when they are indignant than they ever are about anything positive. It must be interesting to live in a constant state of anger.

It only takes 1 loudmouth who is utterly ignorant to ruin a pathetic little protest. Seriously, 6 people in lilly white Connecticut, and 1 bozo yelling his head off about comments he doesn't get.

Obama did say one option when you have advanced (not early stage treatable) cancer is to just take a painkiller and eschew chemo. Its called palliative care, its legal in all 50 states and practiced by every doctor with a geriatrics practice. Its exactly the sort of choice I'd like to have a conversation with my doctor about, along with other advance directives, as I get older. Good luck having a good enough relationship with a doctor to actually have that conversation under most current health plans. I had to settle for having a shorter version of it with my wife and attorney when I wrote my will, living will and power of attorney documents a few years ago.

Its the same old thing - the right's all about personal responsibility and having all your options, as long as no one tries to make a choice (abortion, palliative care, assisted suicide, medical marijuana, gay marriage, gay adoption, mixed marriage, integration, affirmative action, teaching science based on science and not religion) that would force them to expan their worldview the tiniest bit.

This stuff is absolutely going to blow up in their faces. I know we all have that reptilian part in our brain that just wants to scream at how backwards and unhinged these people are being... But make no mistake, people are seeing this that aren't hardcore dems and are disgusted.

So how does this help the Repubs? Like the crazy people last year at the McCain-Palin rallies, average people see this stuff and go WTF.

That being said I do believe progressives need to start showing up at these town hall meetings so that the teabaggers don't dominate the room.

Let's take a look at what is going on here. The republicans have clearly decided they will not be able to win another national election for at least a generation. Rightwing media has been riling up the base while further alienating key demographics that already make up a plurality of the electorate and will soon be a majority. They have stoked the idea that immigrants and non-whites are overrunning the country. The vast majority of white southerners (particularly men) do not believe the president was born in the US, which means he is in office illegally. The teabag movement is overtly using revolutionary sloganeering about taxation without representation. This heavily armed mob could easily assemble these various threads into a case for violent insurrection.

If violence occurs at any of these townhall meetings and Obama sends in the national guard, then we have an illegal black fascist pointing guns at true Americans. A lot of local guardsmen might decide to disobey his command and some southern governors might attempt to take local control of the guard (which is only theirs in times of peace under the constitution). While I think it's more likely that we just see lots of local insurrections with a complete breakdown of the rule of law and civil discourse in large parts of the south, I think it is also possible that the end result could be a military coup. The vast plurality of the military are white southern evangelicals, including much of the leadership. How long will they follow a leader who does not represent their beliefs? Think it couldn't happen here. Well, it happened twice already. Now, I don't think this is an organized conspiracy. I think it is the possible convergence of a number of different threads.

So that's it. They're recruiting third-rate standup comedians on open mic night to act as spokesclowns for these herds of morons. It's like funny, except it's not.
