Protestor In Connecticut: "Treat" Dodd With Handful Of Painkillers And Whiskey
Wow, check out these protestors outside a health care event by Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) in Hartford (via My Left Nutmeg). What follows are some very direct jokes about Dodd's cancer -- and the idea of some sort of euthanasia involving booze and pills:
"Barack Obama clearly said, all you should do is take a painkiller. How come we just don't give Chris Dodd painkillers?" shouted one man. "Like a handful of them at a time! He can wash it down with Ted Kennedy's whiskey -- oh excuse me, scotch!"

So these assclowns are getting more and more unhinged and more and more violent.
Surprise!

This is just the Repub's fanning the hate flames again, just like Caribou Barbie's rallies last Fall. Gross ignorant lies and vicious hate, prompted by corporations who are laughing all the way to the bank...it is all they have. And the more they do it, the more fringe they become as a party and to the vast majority of Americans.

The media is just calling it "politics as usual." This is going to keep going until someone gets seriously hurt or killed. Then the media will show shock and outrage. This time however, I think the genie is too far out of the bottle. I think these nut jobs have been so riled up and led astray, that it is way too late...I hate to say it, but you have the type of people who killed Dr. Tiller armed to the hilt with assault rifles and other guns.
I am seriously afraid.

This is WORSE than McCain Palin rallies. The reason? Whatever you think of the rallies, there was SOME attempt to moderate them (okay not much). These are just unchained pitbulls with rabies. There could be worse things down the road.
August 4, 2009 6:57 PM | Reply | Permalink
I think the only attempt to rein them in came in the very end of the campaign when McCain's conscience finally clawed its way out of his chest and objected to a few of the craziest claims. Palin, however, never lifted a finger to calm down the nutjobs. I think she dug the chaos.

These guys are getting more and more frightening. I keep thinking that, unless some voice of sanity on the right starts walking them back from the edge, as opposed to egging them on, this is going to get very ugly.
At this point, I don;t even know if it's possible to "walk them back." The moment anybody tries to reason with them, these guys just add them to their "enemies" lists.
Seriously, there is going to be blood shed by these nutjobs and when it starts, it won't stop at a single victim. Once they getstarted, they'll be even more convinced of the righteousness of the cause (whatever it is).

The more I see these people, the more contempt I have for the human race. Moving further into the woods with my dog is sounding better all the time. Having utilized a lot of healthcare this year and having had to deal with an insurance company in the process, just setting down under a tree and letting nature take it's course may be a better option than the choices we have today. It's beginning to look like there are not going to be any good options.

Please stand and fight! I know exactly how you feel. This whole healthcare debate is pretty much the fight for my life, and yours, and millions of others. The lure of some peace and quiet in this world is stronger than ever, but we need to fight!
The Americans who eventually win the fight for single payer and take the insurance monkey off the backs of all future Americans will go down in history as the greatest heros of the 21st Century. I assure you that future generations are going to look back at what we accomplish here today and say a very sincere 'thank you, job well done!'

Yeah, this is gonna get ugly real fast folks. And now you have some "liberals" who want to "confront" the "protestors" head on, so instead of discussing health care at these town hall forums, they will become nothing but some sort of "gang war". scenario. This is stupid.
No one said that GOP can't also have town halls, so why don't they have them also. There needs to be REAL DEBATE, not this fake ass outrage shit the organizers of these "protest" are trying to make happen.
I know I might get flamed for this but the political discord on both sides of the debate is just stupid.
You don't like the ANY Dem plan, but your party ain't providing any alternative, so you're gonna BULLY people who actual maybe coming to these town hall meeting to find out what's going on, and to ask questions they may have. Instead, they have to be in the middle of a dumb ass shouting match because of a few idiots, and their puppeteers.

I have no doubt these teabaggers know nothing about health care and could care less what changes are made to it (although they would be first in line to take advantage of any lower price single payer alternative).

It only takes 1 loudmouth who is utterly ignorant to ruin a pathetic little protest. Seriously, 6 people in lilly white Connecticut, and 1 bozo yelling his head off about comments he doesn't get.
Obama did say one option when you have advanced (not early stage treatable) cancer is to just take a painkiller and eschew chemo. Its called palliative care, its legal in all 50 states and practiced by every doctor with a geriatrics practice. Its exactly the sort of choice I'd like to have a conversation with my doctor about, along with other advance directives, as I get older. Good luck having a good enough relationship with a doctor to actually have that conversation under most current health plans. I had to settle for having a shorter version of it with my wife and attorney when I wrote my will, living will and power of attorney documents a few years ago.
Its the same old thing - the right's all about personal responsibility and having all your options, as long as no one tries to make a choice (abortion, palliative care, assisted suicide, medical marijuana, gay marriage, gay adoption, mixed marriage, integration, affirmative action, teaching science based on science and not religion) that would force them to expan their worldview the tiniest bit.

August 5, 2009 12:05 AM | Reply | Permalink
Let's take a look at what is going on here. The republicans have clearly decided they will not be able to win another national election for at least a generation. Rightwing media has been riling up the base while further alienating key demographics that already make up a plurality of the electorate and will soon be a majority. They have stoked the idea that immigrants and non-whites are overrunning the country. The vast majority of white southerners (particularly men) do not believe the president was born in the US, which means he is in office illegally. The teabag movement is overtly using revolutionary sloganeering about taxation without representation. This heavily armed mob could easily assemble these various threads into a case for violent insurrection.
If violence occurs at any of these townhall meetings and Obama sends in the national guard, then we have an illegal black fascist pointing guns at true Americans. A lot of local guardsmen might decide to disobey his command and some southern governors might attempt to take local control of the guard (which is only theirs in times of peace under the constitution). While I think it's more likely that we just see lots of local insurrections with a complete breakdown of the rule of law and civil discourse in large parts of the south, I think it is also possible that the end result could be a military coup. The vast plurality of the military are white southern evangelicals, including much of the leadership. How long will they follow a leader who does not represent their beliefs? Think it couldn't happen here. Well, it happened twice already. Now, I don't think this is an organized conspiracy. I think it is the possible convergence of a number of different threads.

Never forget that Gang Warfare has a place, particularly when dealing with assclowns like Mr. Chubby in the vid. This fool has likely spent his entire life bullying other people, so someone skilled in the art of confrontation could make this clown's life very complicated indeed---and empty his wallet in the process. Listen: If you saw a particularly nasty dog running loose on the street, you'd want to---at the very least--report it. A good start would be for someone to get a database of names for these disruptors NOW--and not wait to see them after-the-fact as we did with the Brooks Brothers Protest in 2000. It hasn't done us a whole lot of good to know that many of them got juicy jobs with the Bush administration, now has it? I.D. these bastards, and when they show up again somewhere, call them out personally.
