Specter: I Expect To Vote For Cloture On Democratic Bills, Particularly EFCA
Just a quick data point. Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) fielded questions at a Netroots Nation panel this morning about whether he'd encourage his colleagues to support cloture on Democratic bills. Though he elided the specific question, he did say that, unless Democrats flew off the handle and began trying to limit the first amendment, or civil rights for gays, he will vote with the party to bring legislation to the floor for an up or down vote. Specifically, he said he'd support cloture on the Employee Free Choice Act, even if he disagrees with the underlying bill.
He's also recently assured labor organizers that they'd "like" how he votes on EFCA. Before he switched parties, and even for a while thereafter, he said exactly the opposite.
Late update: Specter also said that he never asked President Obama to clear the primary field for him.

Specter also said he would call Grassley and tell him he's wrong about "pulling the plug on grannny"; he also invited backstage to "watch him dial," the audience member who asked the question about Grassley.

Ok, who thinks if Specter manages to hold Joe off he'll keep on behaving this way for the next 6 years? [crickets]
Go Joe.

Excellent point and excellent idea for a sestak campaign commercial. Morph specter into traitor joe and end with a statement along the lines can you trust him? I think not. Go sestak in 2010.

That's the EXACT reason I don't take him seriously. He is a super dem now but if he is reelected expect him to bite you in the ass.

Keep it up Specter, maybe you will become a real Democratic Senator.

Give the guy some credit. His former party and its members loathe him. His new party and its members loathe him - yet he has the guts to face a room full of them (at the town hall and the Netroots). You may believe his actions and words are disingenuous but it tells me that he is going to fight hard to win in the primaries.

They better get in in writing and don't let Bonner & Associates draft it!

Do you think Arlen is finally, truly, and genuinely fed up with the Republic party clownshow? It's starting to look that way, though of course new-found beliefs often go perfectly well with newly perceive self-interest.

Arlen is his own clown show and will parade to whichever big tent will have him.
