Teabaggers Lay Ambush For Miller; Schedule Constituent Meeting, Announce It As Town Hall
Rep. Brad Miller isn't holding any town hall meetings -- but that's not stopping the Tea Party crowd from protesting him.
As we reported yesterday, Miller is meeting one-on-one with constituents at his Raleigh district office. He wants to avoid the big, organized crowds of hostile people that have plagued other members. This decision was made especially easy after he received a death threat over the health care bill.
As it turns out, however, Miller agreed several days ago to hold a meeting with some conservative activists back home. So now a local Tea Party has been promoting it as a town hall -- which it is not -- and urging people to show up outside:
"A large demonstration is going to be staged outside of his office during the meeting! We want an ENORMOUS turn out! With our "representatives" on recess, we have a golden opportunity to show them what we think!"
"We're treating it like it's any other constituent meeting by the office," Miller spokesperson LuAnn Canipe told TPM. "And then unbeknownst to us, it's also orchestrated to get the protestors there and treat it as a town hall."
Canipe said the meeting is still scheduled for tomorrow: "We're gonna go forward with business as usual. The Congressman often meets with groups he disagrees with. He's going to continue to do that, and we'll see where it goes from here."
Also, it should be noted that they began doing this days ago, before we reported on the death threat. So there does not appear to be any direct connection between the two events.

Anyone who uses the term "teabagger" is being dishonest, vulgar and partisan. I have never seen or heard anyone involved in the movement use the term to describe themselves.
For all Democrats out there, just think how you feel when others use the term "Democrat Party". Every Democrat I know prefers an "ic" at the end. With the "ic", you're being respectful; without it, you're being intentionally rude or pathetically ignorant.
Use of the term "teabagger" is a thousand times worse.

1. n. A man that dips his scrotum and testicles into the mouth of another person. (as if dipping a tea bag into hot water)
2. n. A conservative activist who is so ignorant that they protest against tax cuts (that benefit them) by throwing tea into a river.
Earl squatted down and teabagged Betty Lou by dipping his nutsack into her open mouth.
I need a teabag!

So the only thing you can think of to comment on is the term "teabag".
Not the death threat.
Not the constituents trying to mislead the congressman's staff.
You're upset because of the word "Teabaggers".
What? Did that cut too close to home for you?

Vulgar, sure, although the clueless Teabaggers themselves came up with the name as shown in the accompanying video below. Partisan, hell yes, TPM is "politically left" even though some of us are center left or what have you.
What else did you say? Oh, "dishonest." Gee, that confuses me. To me, the Teabaggers are part of a huge and hideous con-game by monied interests to undermine our President and the change people voted for overwhelmingly through misrepresentation. Okay, not every Teabagger may realize that he/she is a stooge in this supremely cynical manipulation. But the whole thing is so odiously dishonorable that it is naturally hard to listen to the charge that somehow labelling Teabaggers for the antidemocratic marionettes that they are is dishonest.

Suggestion to Congressman Miller:
Send staffers outside to welcome all constituents into the meeting, based on photo ID showing residence in his district. Ask all of the others to please move off of private property to a public area. If local ordinances require a permit for a demonstration, please request that one be presented.

Oh, and based on a credible threat on the congressman's life having been recently received, all persons entering the building or remaining on the property will be screened with metal detectors.

...and please line up to speak into the mike, one at a time, racists first.
Let's see how many self-identify by getting up to speak.

The Teabagger Troll Hypothesis
Do any of you recall the McCain Internet Campaign? Thinking specifically of the internet posting contest where participants would be awarded points for trolling heavily traffick'ed blogs? The intrepid TPM Investigative Operative Eric Kleefled may have reported on it. We all had a big laugh
I think the Teabaggers (aka "TeaBag Patriots") have revived and revised the concept...
Just anecdotally from here and from other sites, I believe that the Vast Teabag Licking Consipiracy is trolling TPM?
I think Josh ought to assign his Teabagging Expert and Investigative Operative to smoke this one out

The mainstream media descended from providing news by journalists to Jerry Springer like exhibitionism and entertainment. Is it any wonder that public discourse is reduced to an episode of Springer anymore? I mean, a large percentage of citizens apparently think behaving this way is the norm. Public discourse = shouting and trash talking at a football game?
Politics = entertainment and only entertainment?

The teabaggers are acting like they just came off the Jerry Springer show. Do they really think their behavior is hurting Obama? Heck, they are turning so many people off the Republican party that it won't even be a race in 2012 if this continues for the next four years. Republicans have become the party for extreme lunatics.

How can Teabaggers and Birthers co-exist?
Even if you believe in Creationism, doesn't this seem antithetical?
As a side note: The American Psychological Association (APA) confirms that neither therapy nor wishful thinking can convert a homosexual into an heterosexual. Somehow this bears in the current context.

And by the way, BaltoD, it must really hurt that not only the mainstream media, but Fox News, regularly uses the term teabagger. I suggest you e-mail Hannity and Beck.
