At the Virginia gubernatorial debate just now, Democratic nominee Creigh Deeds just agreed that some of the opposition to President Obama is motivated by racism -- and he included Rep. Joe Wilson's (R-SC) outburst during Obama's speech as an example.
After moderator David Gregory asked Deeds about the subject of racism, he responded: "I'd like to think in this country that we are beyond some things. But clearly, there is a hint of racism in some of the opposition to President Obama. That is crystal clear. I was very disturbed the other night at the outburst on the floor of the House. I thought that was unprecedented, and would not have occurred under past president -- and did not occur. I would hope we are broad enough as a people to be able to discuss our differences civilly."

Just got my vote, Mr. Deeds! (too bad I don't live in VA) That's a very sensible response.

Well he probably lost a lot of votes as well because that answer will be spun into a campaign ad by his opponent saying "Creigh Deeds thinks that if you disagree with the President on his policies you are a racist..."

..but can't Creigh Deeds just counter by citing specific incidents of racism, possibly some of the unseemly examples exhibited at the DC Tea Party, and ask: "Mr McDonnell, you aren't trying to tell us that these are legitimate critiques? Are you?"

You say it's clear?!
Then HOW COME Morning Joe and that malevolent little Mika were bloviating yesterday that the idea was "ridiculous?" If you're right and they're wrong, how come *they* got to be the Fox News of morning cable, and you're running for yo' li'l-bo-beep Gubernatorial Seat, where they don't even let you smartmouth the President in joint session but it's okay on a bus to beat up whitey?
Hmmmmmmmmnnnnnnn?

I can't believe it has taken this long to figure out that Bill and Rush and the rest are racists, or at least catering to a racist, ignorant population.
