The money keeps rolling in for both Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) and his Democratic opponent, Iraq War veteran Rob Miller, in the wake of Wilson's "You lie!" incident.

The DCCC just announced that Miller's post-outburst fundraising has now reached over $1.5 million, and has come from over 40,000 individual donors.

On the other side, the NRCC has announced that Wilson has received more than $1.3 million -- which means that there's definitely a market for "You lie!"

This also means that both candidates will be very well-financed for the 2010 election, in what should now be a race that will attract a lot of national attention.

I am convinced that there are people out there that are just unwilling to accept a black president. Almost 70% of Americans disagree with Wilson according to Gallup.

It's not just his skin color. It's his combination of skin color, name, personal roots and political roots. If his name was Tom Smith, both of his parents were born in America, he spent all of his childhood years in Philadelphia, he graduated from State U. and worked his way to the top without going through a nationally-renown and loathed political machine, there wouldn't be nearly this much animosity. There would be some, for sure, but not nearly this much.

Instead, he was born to a foreign Kenyan parent and a white mother from Kansas, he spent part of his childhood in Indonesia, he has a bachelors and JD from ivy league schools (remember that the righties hate affirmative action with a passion) and he came up through the Chicago political machine, which is associated with corruption and radicalism. In short, he's considered inauthentic and not a "real American."

I mentioned this last week, but it bears looking into.

Is there any method for determining what percentage of these contributions are coming from outside SC? Also, what percentage of contributions are over, say, $100?

Answers to those questions could put a whole new complexion on this issue.

$500,000 - insurance industry
$100,000 - Ku Klux Klan
$100,000 - Militias
$100,000 - Southerners who dislike African-Americans

the problem with this - does the amount of $$$ somehow translate to Truth?
likewise - just cause the higher number of people polled don't believe Obama 'Lied' - doesn't translate to Truthfulness.

Beaufort SC has more claim to fame then the Great Santini. We also have the Prince of Tides, Forest Gump, Big Chill, War, The Chase and many more. Oh did I mention that organizer's of SC secession from the union met here, and the first French Settlement in the New World. Places history predates St Augustin Fl

Oh yes the SC 2 district is so gerrymandered it is hard to see a Democrat winning.

Growing up here if you weren't a demo you couldn't get elected. I went off to collage worked elsewhere for a few years when I came back you couldn't get elected unless you where a Republican.

Y'all take care now.

I really want to see Wilson's disclosure ... it's pretty easy to track Miller - the campaign is on ActBlue. The GOP can assert anything they want at this point - I mean what was it, 800,000 folks all crammed into the first block of the mall?
