Former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN), who lost by a very narrow margin to Democrat Al Franken in the heavily-litigated 2008 Minnesota Senate race, doesn't appear to be done with politics just yet.
In a possible sign that Coleman could still be trying to maintain his profile among the Minnesota GOP grassroots, he has reportedly authored a fundraising letter for a real hero of the GOP base, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN):
Make no mistake about it -- this opposition isn't coming from the Minnesotans she represents in Washington. It's coming from the liberal netroots in places like San Francisco, Manhattan and Vermont. It's coming from the same people who bankrolled Al Franken's race against me and his legal battle to deny honest Minnesotans a fair vote last November.
(Emphasis in the original.)
The Bachmann campaign did not return our requests for comment.

As a Vermonter, I'm thrilled to find out that we've now joined San Francisco and Manhattan on the list of places vilified by the right wing fundraising appeals.
(Of course Norm Coleman is from Brooklyn originally, but at least I've got a Scandinavian name that would go over well in Minnesota...)

1) Norm, you're accusing a whole bunch of judges from both parties of denying "honest Minnesotans a fair vote." Really? Then take another run at it in five years and let's see if you can get any closer. The people of Minnesota have already seen Franken do a hell of a lot more in his short time in office than you did in six years. You'd get your ass kicked.
2) And who's sending money to Bachmann? Bigots? Town hall screamers? People who bring guns to Obama rallies? People who murder census workers and scrawl "fed" on their chests?

My dear Northern neighbors...How in heck did you "ever" elect either of the two aforementioned cretins? Jesse Ventura was startling, but Bachmann and Coleman? I guess we. too, have to bear some shame...King and Grassley. Sigh!

Typical Pubbie revisionism. It was Coleman that launched the legal battle over the election, Frankin merrily defended against the attack.

He's gotta be running for something. There's no way a rational sane individual would suck up to the Bachmann base unless he needed Republican support

Maybe he's just trying to ensure he continues to qualify for wingnut welfare checks.

He's obviously not running for anything except the primary -- Ms. Bachman cannot be expected to excite the independents he would need in the general.

I'm comforted to know that Franken's legal battle was only meant to deny Honest Minnesotans a fair vote. Cheating scumbags like me can continue to vote for Coleman.
