Rep. Jim Oberstar (D-MN), the chairman of the House Transportation Committee, has some tough words for a particular member of his state's delegation -- Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann -- the Minnesota Independent reports.
"I don't think God's talking to her anymore," Oberstar said on Tuesday, in response to Bachmann's call for conservative activists to slit their wrists and become blood brothers against President Obama on health care. "I think she's hearing other voices."
The bit about God talking to Bachmann is not a random joke, by the way -- that's how Bachmann said she became a candidate for Congress in 2006, after God called her to run, and she and her husband fasted and prayed for three days to make sure.

Can you imagine the mindset of Bachmann's constituents?
I would be embarrassed to have her as my Rep.

They're mostly Republicans who (as we've discussed)have no natural shame.

There is no question that she is on meds! Just look at her eyes, whenever she starts one of her rants. I'm guessing it won't be long before we hear God told her to check into a rehab clinic.

I wonder which of the voices suggested the wrist-slitting?

A widdle voice that would be deep in the folds of her gray matter, if she had any folds. In her case it resides in her reptilian brain and hisses out statements that reflect the disconnect between reality and what she wishes the world would actually be. Some Christian circles would call that voice "Satan" and others merely a demon. But all conservative religious societies would either submit her to a exorcism or lock her up in a tower and pronouce her ramblins "holy"

Maybe she can get Palin's church to help her out - I hear they are pretty good at exorcisms.

Except for her own church, apparently.
I sure hope that health care reform has a huge budget for mental health. All those Lizard Brained rethugs. My God, they'll even create more jobs as we sure as hell will need many more Insane Asylums!
And I knew her husband had to be nuts. How else could anyone stay married to that mental case? Is he just as crazy or worse?

What Rep Oberstar and about everyone in this comment post are doing isn't just making fun of Rep Bachmann (who I am not personally defending, knowing nothing about her), but making fun of Christianity in general. What she is saying about a "calling" from God is very “mainstream” in Christianity. A “calling" is not synonymous with “talking”. Whether you believe that a “calling” is possible or not (different topic), it is definitely a view that is widely held in Christian circles. So, what he and you are doing is ridiculing Christians in total. But, that's okay...it's nothing new, or really something we get that worked up about (for the most part). While you are trying to make a personal attack against the representative, you fail and you are unwittingly attacking a large majority of this country...agree with them or not. I don't think that's such a smart strategy....but, whatever you want to do. By the way, these are the most childish comments that I've possibly ever seen following an article. Zero substance...just personal attack. You have no ideas with substance, so you attack with vitriol and hatred the things you cannot defend against nor have any understanding of. That is what you should be embarrassed about.

"What she is saying about a "calling" from God is very “mainstream” in Christianity. A “calling" is not synonymous with “talking”."
She specifically said that God talks to her. Just like Scarah Palin and Joe(Sam the (non) Plumber.
They are not true Christians. So Christianity is NOT being attacked. A true Christian would help those 'least among us'. Not fight reform every step of the way. They wouldn't demonize our President because he has a different agenda than they do. They wouldn't start and back illegal wars, they wouldn't have tortured or condoned it. My, my, don't you have a lot to learn about Christianity.
