Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), a potential presidential candidate in 2012, has taken the bold step of ordering his state government to suspend and review all funding of ACORN -- a move sure to please the GOP base.
But here's the catch, according to the Star Tribune: ACORN says that they don't have any funding from the state of Minnesota. A spokesman for the group told the paper that ACORN has never received money from the state government, "and there's certainly not a dime to cut off right now."
Pawlenty's order to the state Management and Budget Commissioner ordered a halt to all ACORN funding "unless the state is legally obligated," and to conduct a "thorough" investigation into the state's relationship with ACORN.

Good one, Timmy! Gotta start using that dog whistle if you're going to whip up some nutty far right support for the primaries.
Don't worry about the state not actually funding ACORN. You really only have to say the word "ACORN". Try "czar", too. I hear that one's working pretty well with the teabaggers lately.
Douchebag.

Next up for Timmy - halt all unicorn captive breeding programs in Minnesota and then send out teams to go find those pots o' gold at the ends of rainbows!

Pawlenty really does not even seem to be pretending to appeal anyone who actually lives in Minnesota anymore. In fact between this and the odd thing about using nullification against the Democratic health care plan, he actively seems to be pretending to be Governor of some totally other state. At what point do these weird stunts start hurting the eventual Republican 2010 candidate within Minnesota itself?

That's not entirely true. Remember Michelle Bachman is from Minnesota. I'm sure her base there is just eating this up.

Pawlenty: Governor of the land of 10,000 flakes--not new, but apropos.
Acorn was a good idea, but was horribly mismanaged, especially at street level.

Like Palin, Timmy should just resign. He is drawing a governor's pay check and is not on the job. He is hopelessly chasing the GOP golden ring for 2012. Minnesota was without Senator Franken for most of a year. Now we are without a governor, but we have to pay him anyway. BTW: Minnesota has not given any funding to Acorn for about 10 years, so that would be another empty, meaningless effort by Timmy Pawlenty.

Wow -- this is almost as embarrassing as the tea party nonsense -- which notice how fast the talk shifted to Acorn. Only took 3 days for the nut-jobs to give up on 2 Gazillion people on the capitol steps.
