A new Rasmussen poll finds that Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) continues to trail former Rep. Rob Simmons, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination.
The numbers: Simmons 49%, Dodd 39%. Former Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley also leads Dodd by 43%-40%. Dodd leads state Sen. Sam Caligiuri by 43%-40%, and edges out financial commentator Peter Schiff -- a favorite of the Ron Paul crowd -- by 42%-40%.
The state remains good ground for Democrats overall, though. Connecticut voters approve of President Obama by 59%-39%, and they also favor the health care reform plan by 52%-46%. Dodd, however, is still stuck in the mud for now.

Color me skeptical. CT is a pretty blue state and I just can't imagine Dodd losing there. The election is more than a year away.

Though I'm reluctant to say this I will anyhow.
Maybe its time we lost one or two people like Dodd, punish them for getting too cozy with the bankers and the corporate boys.
To me, its what is wrong with the Democratic Party today, too Corporate friendly, too reliant on their money.
Look at the bills that sleazebag Phil Graham got passed and note how many Democrats voted with him. Here's an example of just one, which helped bring on this economic tsunami we have to deal with;

Being from CT it is safe to say that the voters of this state, across the spectrum, have feel Dodd has lost his way. There have been calls from the left that Dodd not run again so that AG Richard Blumenthal could. Rob Simmons will easily defeat Dodd. He is the only one. Caligiuri is a chrisitan values cultural conservative and in CT doesn't stand a snowball's chance of beating, even a politically wounded, Dodd. The others are coin flips. There are 3 moderate republicans who would easily defeat Dodd in a GE right now...Chris Shays, Jodi Rell and Rob Simmons. If Simmons gets the nod from the R's he will defeat Dodd...mark my words.

Also being from the state of CT, I can say that your statement is wishful thinking. The people of CT have been led to believe that Dodd has lost his way because of a smear campaign orchestrated by the right-wing supporters in this state, among whom are included the editorial staff of The Hartford Courant. Every charge which the Courant's reporters have leveled at Dodd have been refuted. The wing-nuts in this state always seem to manage to ignore this when they bring up charges about Dodd.
Simmons will not easily defeat Dodd. I suppose you haven't noticed that Simmons seems to have a particularly difficult time raising money. Any ideas on why that should be the case. Also, I would point out that Simmons comes from the least populated section of the state, so all of those folks west of the Connecticut River really don't know him and his "wonderfulness." When his real picture as a Bush toadie gets painted for everyone to see, Simmons will be toast. The same can be said for Chris Shays, who never walked away from supporting a Bush policy. Jodi Rell? Please, excuse me while I laugh. Her incompetence has shown through our current budget mess like a beacon in the night. Jodi managed to pull off her nice aunt routine when times were good, but now that she actually has to do something besides put washed up Republicans on the state payroll, she hasn't got a clue and that will be spelled out too. Ain't the Republicans got anybody but fatally flawed candidates to take on Dodd? Wasn't Giordano supposed to be the great white hope the last time too?
