A new Rasmussen poll finds that Curt Schilling could have a tough time if he were to run in the special election in Massachusetts for Ted Kennedy's Senate seat.

Only 26% of likely voters think Schilling should run, compared to 53% who say he should not. Only 34% of voters say it is either somewhat or very likely that they would vote him, compared to 54% who say it is not very or not at all likely. Only 25% said Schilling is qualified to serve in the Senate, while 46% say he is not.

Schilling is thinking of getting into the race, running as a Republican in this very Democratic state. Clearly, he would have a tough hill to climb.

I've read that he's registered as an independent, doesn't have time to re-register before the special election, and therefore can't run as a republican. True?

I admired him greatly as a Cubs fan (and therefore automatic Red Sox fan - there's a reciprocal agreement there) - but Schilling really ruined his chance at bloody-sock immortality for me when he ran around screaming "VOTE BUSH" unexpectedly at all his post-Series TV interviews. It made him look like a partisan boob. He may be a sports hero in the strictest baseball terms, but off the mound, he really hasn't comported himself in a way that could possibly fill Teddy Kennedy's shoes, and everybody in Massachusetts knows it.

Not only do we NOT want Schilling we sure as hell don't want or need Andy Card who is also thinking of running for Teddy's seat.

Card has to be so out of touch with Massachusetts that to even entertain the idea of running is absurd.......we have a very intelligent electorate who will never forget what Bush did to this country and Andy stood by him every step of the way. Additionally, we also remember what Mitt Romney was like as a governor and how he left office with a $2 billion deficit.

Go away Republicans...we don't want you or your brand of crazy---we want solutions and you don't have any.
