Think Progress seems to have caught Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH) saying something very interesting to a Birther -- that Schmidt agrees with her.
The Birther spoke to Schmidt, as the Congresswoman was making a very frustrated effort to calm her down. "He cannot be a president by our Constitution," she complained.
Schmidt then ducked in close and tried to whisper something in the woman's ear -- which was picked up by the camera. "I agree with you," said Schmidt, "but the courts don't."

That's the question every Democrat and lefty should be asking (to the extent that it does not distract from health care at the moment).
After all, while Jones may not have known exactly what was in (or later in) the petition he was signing, there's no question that Mean Jean knew exactly what she was saying.

The bodyblocking staffer looks just like her boss.
The old witch who was up in Mean Jean's face was a piece of work.

It's a major difference between Dems and Republicans. Van Jones resigned because of a petition he signed. Republicans resist resigning even when they've broken the law (see David Vitter, Mark Sanford, etc.)
The difference is that the GOP has no shame, and can justify anything. Apparently the C Street "Church" says they're entitled.

Jeez, she must spend even more time in the tanning bed than Boehner--she looks like one of my old wallets.

Here's some background on that footage; it was taken last weekend at the Cincinnati Teabagger Party's 'rally' outside of Cincinnati. The teabaggers had been making a lot of noise about this rally for a couple of weeks and predicted that over 11,000 would show up for it. They even had the temerity to 'invite' our Democratic Governor Ted Strickland, Democratic representative Steve Driehaus, Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown and spealer Nancy Pelosi to their so-called 'non-partisan' event.
Well, it turns out that the Cincinnati Enquirer (a right wing rag, btw) put the crowd at 6000 while the teabaggers claimed 18,000. To back up their claims they had Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones back their 18,000 claim. That's sheriff Jones that you see sitting among the teabagger luminaries at the end of that clip. Here's a story from the progressive Cincinnati Beacon:

Sheriff Jones is a notorious right wing extremist and a member of the teabagger party himself. In fact he spoke at their rally, so he's hardly a trustworthy source. He is also fond of rounding up illegal immigrants and making a big show of it for the media. Here's more background on Jones from Right Wing Watch:

She's called Mean Jean for a reason...a nasty piece of work. And scary because she's not as overboard stupid as Michelle Bachmann.

Support for the "Constitution" has replaced support for "states' rights" as the new euphemism for white power. When will the racists acquire the guts to speak in plain language?

It's a riff these dirtbags use, often without the first "n" and "t". They're for the "co'ssitution! But it's a just a word, a talismanic invocation, having no relationship whatsoever to the United States Constitution.

When these folks invoke the Constitution, they are referring to the 1787 version in which only propertied white men were fully human.
