Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) has posted a fundraising appeal on his Web site, asking for supporters to help defend him against liberal attacks in the wake of his "You lied!" outburst. Wilson says he's sorry for the manner in which he responded to President Obama -- but he's not backing down:

Unfortunately I let that emotion get the best of me and I reacted by speaking out during the President's speech. I should not have disrespected the President by responding in that manner.

But I am not sorry for fighting back against the dangerous policies of liberal Democrats. America's working families deserve to have their views represented in Washington, and I will do so with civility. But I will not back down.
Now, I need your help. Last night, the liberals used my outburst as a rallying cry behind my Democratic opponent. Some of the nation's most liberal online activists have helped him raise over $400,000 in just a few short hours.

As I said, I will continue to passionately fight against the Democrats' big-government agenda, but I can't do that if we let the Democrats take this seat.

The fundraising appeal is a bit out of date, in saying that Democratic candidate Rob Miller has raised over $400,000. Miller is now at over $500,000.

And in breaking news, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Really, do we care what the other 534 members of Congress are saying today, or what? Because as I see it all this endless near-Michael-Jackson-level coverage today of this admittedly douche-baggy nobody is giving the rest of Congress a great big pass. How many people who are breathless about whether or not Joe Wilson's last poop means he's sorry have actually thought to call a Blue Dog today and ask them to shit or get off the pot? If we're not careful, Wilson and Henry Louis Gates Jr. are going to make very strange bedfellows, but the effect will be the same - fucking with the President's message and letting the rest of Congress' ample gaggle of asshats slide.

I think Wilson's outburst puts a punctuation mark on the silly season of political discourse. I think that he should be censured. He was way over the line on the rules of decorum. The folks on the right would have to get on board and therefore officially denounce the vociferous right.

Let's do Joe You Lie a favor

Mail him a contribution check for exactly SIX CENTS - a penny for each letter in You Lie.

Let his folks figure out how to process and report and spend the funds

Also donate big bucks to his democratic opponent - Rob Miller

Start a chant of You Lie whenever the mean-spirited ones have a gathering

Rob Miller has now raised $620,000 in 24 hours. I'm hoping it reaches a million.

Also--Wilson's yelling was unprecedented, historic, no? Then why did no Republican turn to look at him in surprise? Was this planned?

No one know what is going to happen once the votes are counted. What is a lie today might not be true tomorrow.
Like Bill Ayres used to tell me, "Bomb today, hide tomorrow"..

The way I see it - much like tagging the great whites in the Atlantic, let the crazies 'tag' themselves. We know where they are - we can monitor them - be a little obsessed for a while - and get out of the water anytime they try to come near.

What a bunch of hypocritical asshats there are here. You throw a tizzy-fit that Rep. Wilson called out "The Messiah" on a lie (that was proven to BE A LIE!), yet you cheered when your Democrat representatives booed and cat-called Bush during the State of the Union address in 2005, when Harry Reid called Bush a liar and a loser (he didn't apologize for his remarks, when Pelosi calls people Nazis (no apologies from her, either). Your phony indignation doesn't really surprise me. It disgusts me, but doesn't surprise me. I've yet to find a Democrat or a liberal politician who could be honest, and maintain his job. Or have any problem finding enough brain-dead, non-thinking droids with their hands out, who think the government will cure all their problems, to make sure they can get enough votes to keep their seats.

Its all good. The actual working people of this country are starting to see through smoke and mirrors Obama and his ilk are putting out. Enjoy your one-term Messiah, and his band of merry monkeys while you can.
