Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) is still doing quite nicely in fundraising. A Republican source tells me that Wilson's post-outburst fundraising has now reached $1.7 million.
This is up from Wilson's total from late Monday afternoon, when he was at $1.3 million in the time since the incident.
Fundraising totals for Wilson's Democratic opponent Rob Miller were not immediately available. On Monday, Miller was at $1.5 million in the post-outburst period.

Haha, the people in that district are going to hate their lives, they are going to get bombarded by so many ads and mailings. *Sigh* All that money, and in the end it is just a wash.

To borrow a line from Josh, I too "fear for my country" when I observe trends like the mega bucks flowing into Joe Wilson's campaign coffers. I live in the south, and so much of what I hear and see here bolsters President Carter's assessment of the racism behind so much of the wild-eyed criticism of President Obama. The fear/distrust of blacks by all too many white southern males is so bred into the bone that they could be wholly unaware of it. And then there are people like Joe Scarborough who so resents hearing that "race" might be a part of his antipathy toward the president that I am prompted to quote The Bard himself: "Methinks thou doth protest too much."

It's all up to South Carolina. Looks like the money will put this into everyone's face there. And it looks like that their race, unlike most places, will put racism on the ticket. Will South Carolina revere their past, think of their future, or am I dead wrong and it'll be policies that actually swing the vote? I hope that it will be policy.

What's the total for his former (and future) opponent? I knew this would happen. But I think Wilson's support will be more local and southern and he may have national support if hannity and co. start drumming for him but then again I think his opponent will get a lot of national support.

There'd certainly be no reason for a "Republican source" to spin these numbers.

Every single attendee at the 9/12 rally donated a single dollar. That brings Wilson's total take to a level just shy of the national debt. In fact, a photo was released of Wilson sitting in a room piled with all of his campaign donations. Except that someone at the daily kos pointed out it wasn't Joe Wilson in the picture at all but rather Scrooge McDuck. It would take a real idiot to think a still from a child's cartoon would be mistaken for a photograph of a congressman, but it was tried nonetheless.

It will be interesting to see what lobbyist / PAC's donated to that cause...unfortunately, it is still impossible to see what the RNC and RNCC donate. So, while those numbers may be impressive, I can only hope that the residents of the state of SC are smart enough to know that a group of Right Wing donors are looking to buy their votes.

**Is there a list of who donated and how much, or do we have to wait a long time for that?

The FEC should have the complete donors list up by mid October. You can also check their overnight reports if there are any to see where the money is coming from.

Bachmann and Wilson in 2012! What a pair. He would make a great VP debater, because he would use so little time. "You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!""You lie!"
