Former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, the Republican nominee for Governor of New Jersey, might be reaching a little too hard to appeal to the youth vote -- a new pair of Web videos from his campaign come off like a middle-aged man trying to sound cool with his kids, and totally failing.
This one samples an L.L. Cool J song, "That's A Lie":
Another Web ad is a takeoff on those annoying commercials for free credit reports, and refers to Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine as being "whack." It is very painful to watch, so it has been placed after the jump for your safety.

Does it have Bachmann in the background talking about Christie and saying "you be da man! You be da man!"
Really, and the sad thing is, these people aren't even embarrassed.

Damn...I was wondering if maybe these were YouTube parodies that someone appended the "Paid for by Christie" tag onto, but I see they're posted on his official channel. It looks like he held a contest for amateur video ads and then picked the worst ones.

That first ad is so unbelievably terrible that I'm shocked they would even release it on the web. All I remember from it is is crappy music and the point that Christie wants to reject stimulus funds and fire all of New Jersey's public teachers.

I agree. I think if I were Corzine, I would pay to have these shown on TV. Not enough people are going to see them on YouTube.

Two thoughts, from a young voter (though admittedly not in New Jersey or sympathetic to Christie):
1) Using a rap song from 1985 to reach the minority vote probably isn't the greatest idea. I was BORN in 1985.
2) The FreeCreditReport.com commercials are considered annoying and, increasingly, as scams. Probably not the image Christie wants to portray.
