Conservative Hoffman Attacks Democrat Owens In New Ad

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has a new ad in the NY-23 special election, attacking Democrat Bill Owens for being supported by Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- and presenting himself as the alternative to the Democrats.
The on-screen text declares that "Bill owes Nancy," and the announcer asks: "So when Pelosi wants Owens' vote for her massive energy taxes, government-run medicine, and a trillion-dollar deficit, where would Bill Owens stand -- with you, or with her?"
It's interesting to see Hoffman going after Owens now, and not the moderate Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava that he's been focusing on for most of this race but isn't even mentioned in this ad. With polling data increasingly showing Scozzafava in third place, Hoffman is now acting less like a third-party candidate and more like a conventional Republican nominee, sticking it to the Democrats.

Hoffman is running a helluva campaign considering he doesn't live in the district, knows nothing about the district and the vast majority of his money came from out of state.
He's smeared Scozzafava into third place, and now is working to lower the numbers of Owens so that Hoffman's 35% will be enough to win the election. He's running a helluva third party campaign. He's effectively made Scozzafava the third party candidate, and now is trying to rally all republicans around him using Pelosi as the librul boogeyman. "Scozzafava can't win, so it's either me or Owens and Owens is a raging liberal who owes Nancy Pelosi".
Owens doesn't seem to have much fight in him though. Owens should be at 40% by now.

So far, Owens has appeared to be staying out of the fray, to decent enough effect. Problem is, Hoffman did too good a job eliminating Scozzafava too early.
