The RNC launched a new version of its GOP.com homepage this morning and in a statement, party chair Michael Steele said the homepage was the reflection of his vision for the GOP:

"When I ran for RNC Chairman, I committed to improving the Republican Party's online ability to inform our grassroots supporters and mobilize them behind important issues, while also electing our great candidates. With the new GOP.com that went live today, the RNC will be able to accomplish exactly that."

Just a few hours after the launch, though, Democrats are claiming the site reflects the party's current state more than its future. Flying around Twitter this morning is a link to the new site's "Future GOP leaders" page. Instead of fresh faces, it the page lists "404 Error: This page could not be found."

The DNC says the site suggests the RNC is saying "There are no future leaders in the GOP." The Democrats offered this response: "As the GOP continues to champion the same failed policies of the past, recycle the same failed leaders of the past like Dick Cheney and Newt Gingrich, and fails to get that the American people aren't looking for a party that just says 'NO' to progress, we rate this claim 'True. So, very true.'"

Late Update: RNC spokesperson Gail Gitcho emails, "The page is being fixed. GOP.com is going to profile future leaders, sometimes elected leaders - but more often people who simply lead by doing, by partnering, mentoring or getting involved in their communities. "

Well, now, them new-fangled intertubes are so dang confisticated who can get a xeroxed newsletter up in this day n' age? Whassat? Web's been around since 1995?

The modern GOP is a bad joke. If this is how they expect to sweep the House in 2010, I cannot WAIT for the platform:

Article I: NO!
Article II: Not no gays/blacks/hispanics, not no how!
Article III: NO!
Article IV: Socialism/Birtherism/Marxism/Facism!
Article V: NO!
Article VI: Now gimmie my Medicare, Medicade, VA Bennies, and more guns than Carter has little pills!
Article VII: NO!
Article VIII: Intellect-strangling religious magic-thinking in shools, govt. property, and the tee-vee!
Article IX: NO!

That page is actually now a bleg. They're asking people to send them suggestions on who the future leaders are. Please, people, help them out! Paul Broun, Sarah Palin, Louie Gohmert, Orly Taitz, Mike Duval...so many fine choices.

Apparently the approval from Limbaugh on the future leaders page was delayed. These things happen.

Its funny how almost all of the "faces" of the GOP are young, attractive white women and historical black figures. Refresh the page a couple of times and check it out.

Sure, the GOP can't figure out who their future leaders are, but at least they have past leaders.

Of course, you shouldn't expect them to get their past leaders' names right.

I got:

"This document had no style information."

Should have said:

"This Party has no class, for your information."

OMG, too funny! The very first item that comes up for me is the "Donate" button. No surprise there. Skip the vid, go to the next page. See the "Why Are You A Republican"..."We asked thousands & thousands of you & responses are *still* coming in!"

I hope so, because at first glance, there are only 12 responses. So Funny!!
