though terminating "Combat Search & Rescue". I hope this is a redundant system or something. I believe this is the program that rescues downed pilots isn't it?

Based on some quick Googling, CSAR-X is a specific search-and-rescue helicopter, so this isn't about terminating combat search and rescue programs in general.

It says a lot about how much our country has changed in the past 4 years when a Democratic president can safely boast about Defense cuts and not be accused of being anti-American and whatnot.

Oh, I'm sure he will be, as long as Fox is on the air. But I don't think such accusations will be effective (or feared), which is indeed a big change.

This is a drop in the bucket compared with what we are still spending in blood and treasure in Iraq and Afganistan.

Good start though.
