Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard, former surrogate for the McCain campaign, and current exploratory candidate for Senate in 2010, declined to answer a question about Sarah Palin. Blogger Bill Black reports that Fiorina spoke to a business meeting in San Francisco Thursday night:
But most interestingly, she was asked whether Sarah Palin displayed leadership qualities. The question was asked in apparent sincerity, but her physical reaction seemed to suggest that she considered it a hostile question.
Here's her response, word for word, in its entirety:
"I've never met Sarah Palin. Next question."
Fiorina later added: "As Winston Churchill said, 'there are not inappropriate questions, only inappropriate answers.'"
Fiorina spokeswoman Beth Miller confirmed to TPM that this exchange did take place, though she clarified that the reference to Churchill was not made in rapid succession from the Palin statement, and was not a direct follow-up.
One has to wonder whether Fiorina's reluctance to answer a question about Palin comes from her famous gaffe in 2008, when she said that Palin did not have the experience to run a major company like HP, "But you know what? That's not what she's running for." Miller was not able to comment on that possibility.

"Hi, I'm Carly Fiorina. I ran HP into ground with one bad idea after another at the same time I was turning it into a cult of personality celebrating the greatness of me. It would have worked, too, if not for that meddling board. Elect me and I'll do the same for America."

Boy you got that one right. Too bad that damn board gave her an obscene amount of money so the rest of us have to listen to her too.

I'd be astounded that anyone takes her seriously about anything if not for the fact that all the neocons are still employed and still lobbying for new self-evidently catastrophic strategic blunders.
Steve Schmidt seems to be the only one associated with McCain who's justifiably unemployed in his former field, and even he seems to have found a lucrative new career in blaming other people for his screw-ups.

Don't blame the HP board. They did the right thing. It was worth any amount of money to get rid of her.

Really a win win choice for Carly, seems like. She burnishes her celebrity status whether she wins or loses in the election.
An important point when you're writing books about how wonderful you are or are being paid to do motivational speeches.

In a real meritocracy, the higher-ups in the McCain campaign would have trouble finding work again, let alone running for statewide office. In that case, the irony would be that they would directly benefit from the Recovery Act.

In a real meritocracy, McCain's main employment at this time would be directing the gardeners at his seven homes and preparing bar-b-que.

How could she have been an advisor for McCain and never have met his running mate?
Really?

Sorry, Carly. I don't believe you. You spent too much air time last fall telling us how perfect SP was for the job. Remember?

Is she trying to hurt Sarah's feelings. That heart is colder than the frozen tundra. Carly flunked out of the biggest loser campaign for talking crap about Sarah Palin & invoking her own failure, & now attempts to play stupid. I hear the birthers are hiring.

Amazing how a totally failed business executive who was FIRED! (didn't resign) as a CEO, and who caused chaos at the company she so woefully mismanaged, still considers herself to be qualified to be in the U.S. Senate. She'd be one of 100 peers; Carfly is unable to function in that kind of role. She would have to be crowned Queen in the Senate chamber, and then would grandly accept the obeisance of the other 99 senators. She would next notify the White House that the Oval Office would be hers - BK would have to find some other place to be President in - subordinate to her, of course....
