Patricia Sullivan, a Tea Party organizer seeking the Republican nomination against Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), is filing a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics over Grayson's use of the House floor to promote his "Names of the Dead" Web site:

As a Mom, Patricia has learned to apply swift correction to bad behavior. She will be filing a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics later today. It is her hope and desire that the OCE will forward the complaint to the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.

If the committee sees fit to censure the violations of Representative Grayson, perhaps the residents of the 8th Congressional District will no longer be subject to the constant embarrassment they have endured over the last few months.

Grayson's office did not have any comment on Sullivan's press release. A source in the office said that they've reached out to the Ethics Committee and the House Administration Committee for their opinion, and are also speaking to their FEC attorney.

Check out the full Sullivan statement after the jump.

Patricia Sullivan, a resident of the 8th Congressional District of Florida, a mom, and a candidate for Alan Grayson's seat, will be filing a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Representative Alan Grayson.

According to the House Ethics Manual, Grayson's activities on the House floor yesterday were in direct violation of rules of conduct and ethics found on pages 38, 123, 127, 131, and 176.

It is time for Representative Grayson to be held accountable for his wreckless (sic) behavior.

Names of the Dead

Every year, more than 44,000 Americans die simply because they have no health insurance.

I have created this project in their memory. I hope that honoring them will help us end this senseless loss of American lives. If you have lost a loved one, please share the story of that loved one with us. Help us ensure that their legacy is a more just America, where every life that can be saved will be saved.

Did she take this as a swipte aganst theGOP, beause they are not mentioned here at all. Oris she advocating the right of free speech of the people who havelost the lives of friends and family should be repressed? I'm confused. Maybe they can explain how it is unethical.

As a Republican, she feels partly responsible for all those deaths.

Leave it to a cowardly and ignorant teabagger to insult the memory of those who died. Guess it shows that she is not pro-life. ;-)

Oops, that came out wrong. I meant that it shows she is "pro-life" but not if it means health insurance will help sustain it.

You're forgetting: pro-life for Republicans only counts if you're a fetus or a vegetable. Otherwise you can just go die.

What does being a mom have to do with any of this? Is that her sole qualification for office (and filing the complaint)? Jesus, do we have another Palin running for an office she isn't qualified for?

Here, I'll help here with some campaign slogans:

"Patricia Sullivan, as a mom, she can tuck the voices in your head into bed. Now with 33% more nagging!"

"Patricia Sullivan, as a mom who swiftly corrects what needs to be corrected, will correct you. You dirty, dirty boy. Starbursts!"

I just read all the pages referenced and these charges are completely bogus. No funds were being solicited nor does this website have to do with re-election. Ridiculous. You can look at the House Ethics Manual here for yourself: http://ethics.house.gov/Media/PDF/2008_House_Ethics_Manual.pdf

Sure, but when the OCE denies her complaint, she can use that in her campaign. "The Democrat Party won't police themselves. We need to get rid of them!"

"It's not fair. He did something good on the floor of the House that made people like him. That's campaigning! That's got to stop!

Mom."

So much for the idea of the voice of the people.

You mean just ANYONE can file an ethics complaint? I thought you had to be a member of Congress to file one. Where does one send such a complaint? There are a few I could file against health insurance company flacks posing as the people's representatives.

Bets! Get your bets in!

I say Grayson wins by at least 10 points, regardless of his opponent.

If "concerned mom" is the repug nominee, he wins by 20.

I hope some 'responsible news agency' (the only one I can think of is Jon Stewart) will gather a collage of Republicon crackpot exclamations from the House and Senate floor, use this occasion to raise a mirror to the Republiconz and remind the country how fortunate it is to have marginalized the likes of Patricia Sullivan and placed her party in the majority.

This woman is an idiot with nothing to bring to the table so in typical RepubliCON style, she'll attack his credibility. However, in attacking his, she has destroyed her own. Good riddance to bad rubbish. With the things that he is spearheading, does she really think she has a chance? Do any of them? Man they are living in a dream land.

There is such a thing as frivolous lawsuits and people who file them are sometimes penalized (see Orly Taitz). I wonder if the same thing can be applied to this individual. If none of the charges are even close to valid, I would think that she is guilty.

What rules of ethics and conduct is she talking about? As far as I can tell, there are 14 House Rules in the Code of Conduct, which comprises House Rule XXIII, as documented here. I can't see any of them that are facially violated by Grayson running a web site to honor those who have died because of lack of access to health care.
