Yet another Republican is officially challenging Harry Reid, with former state GOP chair Sue Lowden announcing her bid to bring down the Democrats' Senate Majority Leader.

"I think there is a big fear here in Nevada, across the country, but clearly here in Nevada, of a big government takeover of our lives, of our businesses," said Lowden. "I think that is going to resonate in Nevada and I think throughout the country."

Recent polls have shown Lowden ahead of Reid -- a good place to be, starting out. But as the Las Vegas Review-Journal points out, it's not going to be so simple for her. She or any other Republican must first get through a very crowded Republican primary, with nine other candidates ranging from major names to underdogs. After that, Reid, could spend as much as $25 million.

About that fear, Ms. Lowden? Why not pledge to forego any federal funding for Nevada, 'kay? If the federal government is so gosh darn scary to you and your citizens, well, the only right thing to do is to get the federal government the hell out of Nevada!

P.S. You may want to check with John McCain and the governor of Arizona before you do, though. Apparently the mere threat of pulling stimulus funding from Arizona gave both of them the vapors. . .

Probably the best predictor of a person’s future actions is their record. In my opinion, Sue Lowden’s record is dismal, especially during the past two years when she was chairperson of the Nevada Republican Party. Based on her record, I believe that she does not have the qualities necessary to be an responsible senator. It is entirely possible that if elected she might soon become mired in controversy as she was last year in the state convention.

The main problem that I have with Sue Lowden is that in April of 2008, her actions in disrupting an election at the state convention undermined one of the most important institutions of our form of government. It was an action that is more commonly seen among South American dictatorships than something that happens in the American political landscape. I will give some background to that sordid event and describe what really happened based on what can be documented from reliable sources and my personal observations. There is plenty of documentation. In discussing this history, I am not dwelling on the past nor am I bitter that John McCain got the nomination. I am concerned about what last year’s events show about Sue Lowden and her potential as a senator. In my opinion, her actions were so lawless and so improper as to suggest that she will be a danger to our form of government if she is elected to the senate. In addition to being improper, I believe that her actions show very little political ability. A good political leader would have attempted to work with all factions and not alienate a significant fraction of the party. I am quite sure that her actions led to the defeat of Bob Beers and Joe Heck. That can be seen in the final results of the election where the margin of loss was less than the percentage of Republican voters expected to be angered by the abrupt ending of the election at the convention.

She's pretty cute. She should run for Ensign's seat. I wouldn't mind staffing her, if you catch my drift. (I'm saying I want to have sex with her.)

She's attractive. She's got great hair. She's a former local TV anchor --- which probably explains the great hair. And she's married to a rich casino mogul. Wow! What great qualifications.

I don't know much about her yet, but will do my homework. Regardless, I think we need to get rid of Harry Reid and I will vote for any Republican that is challenging him. Not because I am Republican (I am nonpartisan and middle of the road). I am not one that believes the "devil we know is better than the one we don't". If an elected official is not good for us then we should vote them out. If the next person isn't good...then vote them out. An election is always around the corner so let's give someone else a chance.

One of my major sticking points is the size of government. I think most of us can agree that we don't want gov't running our lives...so it should be limited in size. This Congress, led my Reid and Pelosi, are just looking to increase the size...increase their personal power...and are searching only to fulfill party agendas rather than what's best for the country. I think most politicians do it, but Reid represents me and that's the only one I can help to do anything about.

Besides...is it just me or does the arrogance show with that TV ad I keep seeing "Thank Harry Reid". He should be thanking us for putting his a$$ there (although I won't take credit for it)...that just shows they forget who is in charge. Before someone says it...I am sure it was some PAC that ran the ad.
