Speaking today today at a press conference promoting equality for women in the health care system, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) assured reporters and activists that health care reform "will have a public option in it."
Schakowsky is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care reform, and is chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus' Health Care Task Force.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the Congressional leaders are finalizing a health care bill, which will be unveiled "soon."

You betcha it will. Nay-sayers have to remember we have TWO houses in our national legislature, and one of them actually represents the PEOPLE of this country, not rural states.
Democratic "leadership" in the Senate is on notice that if they can't hold their caucus together on cloture votes or find the stones to use budget reconciliation, they will be defeated the next time they run for re-election.

fyi - Schakowsky has been Emanuel's point gal when arm twisting progressives, her most recent pivot was on the Supplemental they all swore they would vote against
forgive my skepticism, but she would be a likely candidate to to sell Rahm's 'triggers' or Clyburn's "pilot programs" as a PO

the days ahead will bring light to many of these issues. It'll be nice to finally see some hands revealed and cards on the table.
