Liz Cheney: White House Fight With Fox News Is 'Censorship' And 'Abuse of Power'

Liz Cheney appeared on Sean Hannity's TV show last night, and had some very tough things to say about the Obama administration's public feuding with Fox News.

Cheney said that David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel were sending a "clear warning" against other networks: "It's clear censorship, and it's, in my view, abuse of power from the White House."

As for why the Obama administration has it in for Fox, Cheney said: "They became accustomed to an environment where they just got a lot of adoration, and they don't like to be challenged. And Fox News has sure been, you know, at the top of the list of those asking the hard questions."

She may have a point about a White House being accustomed to an environment of adoration and not being challenged. This would explain why the Bush-Cheney White House liked Fox News so much.

It's the same silly gobbledygook that Sarah Palin spews.

And someone might want to ask Liz Cheney what it's called when the Fox Network refuses to broadcast an address by the President to joint chambers of Congress? Hmmm? Liz? Can't hear you. . .

Oh, I'd also like to know why you're such a wuss that you won't go on Maddow's show? Who're you afraid of, anyway?

I'd have thought the daughter of Five Deferment Dick would have at least the level of cojones that the Speaker of the House has, but you're kind of disappointing.

Republicans have different dictionaries than the reset of America.

Censorship is defined as the suppression of speech or deletion of communicative material which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the government or media organizations as determined by a censor.

I don't know how calling Fox News a Republican propaganda machine is censoring it.

Since Daddy Dick and his sidekick "Tell me about the rabbits" George censored any bad news coming out of Iraq, and got the mainstream media to fall in line with everything they had to say about WMDs, the Iraq-Al Qaeda link, the Patriot Act, warrantless wiretapping, etc., etc., they are projecting again. Quelle surprise.

Considering the awful mess our country was left in on January 20, 2009, why in the world would anyone listen to someone with the last name Cheney? She comes from a family that has been discredited to no end.

Just go away...

She is a little busy raising a kid while working on the board of the Carter Center, advancing the cause of human rights, diplomacy and improved living conditions in 70 countries around the globe.

In short, she has better things to do than engaging a psychotic Liz Cheney over her drivel.

The fact that a Cheney or Rove comes out to defend Fox News only reinforces the administration's point.

If the teabag network is effectively exposed for the propaganda tool that it is, a strategic weapon in the Republican arsenal will be seriously blunted.

That's what I find funniest about this. The fact that Cheney only defends Fox News onFox News is sort of definitive of what the WH is remarking about Fox News.

Elsewhere, John offered a Deep Thought: "I think the White House went too far by revoking all of Fox's broadcasting licenses."

Now folks, what do you think that chances are that Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh or whoever will report the above as _fact_?

That's not abuse of power--abuse of power is outing an undercover CIA agent who is exposing the lies that you told to drag our country into a war that you wanted to have.

Yo' daddy is a war criminal!

With both the Cheney family and Fox "News" you are dealing as much with the power of abuse as the abuse of power. I think she's auditioning for the role of the Red Queen in the next remake of Alice in Wonderland.

Her daddy and his puppet made illegal wire taps on American citizens and bombed millions of innocent people. And, she's saying a little criticism by the WH about Fox Nuisance is censorship and an abuse of power? Seriously, is she this stupid to make this an argument without thinking that it will get shot down? This woman is desperate for attention that daddy didn't give her.

She has not a bad word to say about that, but this expression of the most obvious fact by Obama, and she sees Constitutional violations!!
She is wily, kind cute, psychotic and evil.

...and Liz Cheney is an unbiased, dispassionate observer and thoughtful commentator on issues of public concern...and did you know that alligators make good house pets along with cobras and scorpions.

Why do we even give her any air time or ink? Is her father not able to defend his own honor? Why do we have to be subjected to the wrath of the daughter? It is undignified and unmanly for Dick to send in the child in a lame attempt to defend his honor.

There comes a time where you either have some dignity or you don't. I thought Obama had been more than fair to FOX. They took it as weakness. The President isn't the type to make waves but he isn't going to be stepped on either.
If the network really wants some attention from the administration, how about trying to act like a normal anti-Obama outfit, like NBC (Today Show).

Would someone *please* teach these Republicans something about the Constitution and censorship. Anytime somebody criticizes them they cry censorship. It says right in the 1st Amendment, plain as day:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press ..."

"Congress shall make no law." Get it, Congress. See where it says "Congress?"

Not "the Administration" or "the President shall not criticize a news outlet. "Congress shall make no laws."

So stop with all the censorship nonsense. No one is censoring Liz Cheney or Fox News or anyone.

Probably why Lizzy is afraid to appear on Rachel Maddow's show.

So what in the hell is the administration expected to do? Passively acquiesce? Politely ignore?

It's typical conservative schtick: They've cranked up the victim game. They've conveniently and collectively cried foul, branding themselves as patriotic victims in an attempt to rally the supporters ($$$) while staying in the news cycle ($$$).

The Democrats do this as well - but it's not half as humiliating and deceitful.

Legacy Liz knows that when a cheney emerges from the nether reaches
it gets reported all over the media, not just fox.

That's the real mind bender in all of this. This proves that this evil
that runs in families psycho makes her absurd comments that are always lies
and distortions and it is reported by the "legitimate" media for a
24 hour news cycle like it has some value.
