Rep. Kendrick Meek (D) raised less in the third quarter than both of his potential GOP opponents in the Florida Senate race. Meek raised just over $750,000 in the period, according to his FEC filing, and entered the fall quarter with about $2.7 million on hand.

Both Republicans in the race, former state House Speaker Marco Rubio and Gov. Charlie Crist, both raised far more than Meek did last quarter. But that pair is locked in a tough primary. So far, Meek's main competitor for the Democratic nomination is former Miami Mayor Maurice Ferre, who only recently declared and has not yet announced his fundraising numbers.

Late Update: Todd Wilder of the Ferre campaign called in after we posted. He tells TPMDC that since Ferre declared his candidacy after the end of the last fundraising quarter, the campaign will not be releasing any numbers until the end of the year.

I'll vote for Meek. He is going to be going against Crist in all likely hood so it is not going to be easy. I like him though. If he can get Obama down here and the Clintons he might have a chance at pulling it off. Crist is not liked by conservatives. Especially the ones who suspect he is closeted. I like Crist ok but could never vote for him as a Republican. If he loses the Primary to Rubio he may just switch parties or run for the Senate as an Independent. He might have a better shot at winning. Many conservatives down here loathe Gov Crist.

I'd vote for Meek too...

The repubs hate Crist for (oh no) standing next to Obama (might get socialism coodies), picking up a wife whenever he runs for an election, dumping them after he wins or loses, and seeming pretty homo.... and apparently his first wife is going to write a whole book about it after he's out of politics.

who knows -- but Crist and Rubio are way more high profile than Meek, so his numbers being way lower makes a lot of sense
