Meg Whitman, the former eBay CEO and current Republican candidate for Governor of California, appeared on the Neil Cavuto show to discuss her campaign -- and strongly disputed the Sacramento Bee report that she didn't register to vote until she was in her 40's. "I voted in the 1984 election in California," said Whitman. "I remember it very clearly."
When asked who was the last president she voted for, she said "George Bush." It was not immediately clear whether she meant the older or younger Bush. "And then John McCain, obviously," she added.
Whitman was asked about the attacks from her opponents, that someone who has voted as little as she does lacks credibility to jump into the political arena.
"As I said, my voting record isn't perfect, but this is about the future of California. This is about getting California back on track," Whitman responded. "And I became very engaged in politics and how the government interacts with business, at eBay. You know, we represented millions of small-business sellers who had, everyday, their livelihood stymied by bureaucracy, taxation, regulation. So I'm very engaged now."
"And with regard to the Sacramento Bee, my voting record, as I said, isn't perfect. But I want it to be presented fairly and correctly. And the Sacramento Bee did not report the facts accurately. And so we've, you know, taken them to task for that."

People like Meg Whitman have no need to vote at the polls. They vote through their lobbyists.

"I remember it very clearly...I clicked the positive feedback link, left a comment, and they got a star next to their name."
