As the Senate inches closer to a vote on health care, the Democratic National Committee is launching a national ad campaign starring a Washington, D.C.-area doctor and nurse who echo President Obama's talking points on why his plan is needed.

"Our health care system is broken ... our patients need real reform," Prince George's County, MD registered nurse Elizabeth Prah says in the ad, an early copy of which was obtained by TPMDC.

Dr. Jeremy Spinks of Arlington, Virginia says patients need "stability and security," in their health care plans, going along with a focus on those who have insurance.

"Tell Congress to pass health insurance reform now," says Spinks, an E.R. doctor, while Prah adds, "We simply can't afford to wait."

The ad will run on national cable for two weeks starting Wednesday, the DNC said.

The ad follows Obama's White House event yesterday with doctors from each state, during which the president said doctors and nurses are the "most supportive" of his health care plan.

Supporters on the Organizing for America mailing list have been doing a push with doctors over the last week.

This new OFA campaign also will include online ads, social networking and doctors doing a letters-to-the-editor and op-ed writing push.

Spinks participated in one of the OFA's calls for health care stories, posting at length here about what he's seen at Mount Vernon Hospital.

"I used to believe that health care was a privilege, but what I have come to discover is that when health care is treated as a privilege, only the privileged receive it," he told other Obama supporters in the posting.

The DNC called the other day asking me to 're-up' to help fund this effort. I mentioned I was disappointed in way the Dems voted on the Senate Finance Committee. He started spinning the pitch as a way encourage those folks to come around. Yeah. I think I'll stick with our locals, the folks I can count on and leave the nationals to themselves.

Good for you. Nothing is more frustrating -- nothing -- than the national democrats. They are all just sort of banking their contributions.

That ad is kind of lame. About what I'd expect from the DNC.

A few months ago doctors from the New York chapter of the National Physician's Alliance put together this vid to lobby congress at the DC Healthcare Rally (June 10th, Michael Jackson died that weekend, squelched the healthcare coverage).

Anyways more testimony from some of the over 65% of real doctors who want reform:
