More than half of Republicans either say President Obama doesn't love America or say they aren't sure of his feelings toward the country he leads.
That's according to a new national poll due out tomorrow from Public Policy Polling. The firm gave TPMDC an early look this afternoon.
PPP polled 766 registered voters nationwide. Of the GOP respondents, 27% agreed that Obama "loves America," 48% disagreed and 25% said they weren't sure.
"It was the first time we asked that question," PPP's Tom Jensen told TPMDC. "But it's very similar to the birther numbers we've seen before."
"It's just more confirmation that Obama's opponents will say anything," he added.

I think if you included "like America" and "like-like America"--and maybe even "after a few drinks thinks he loves America"--among the possible responses, you'd find that many who make up that 48 percent hold a significantly more nuanced view of the issue than this poll gives them credit for.

What a stupid bit of affrontary to commission such a poll! Has the whole of pollsters lost their minds??? This is pushing a hate agenda...Bet they were very selective in the choice of zip/area codes they used!
Appalling behavior and to think they get paid for this! Let alone the people that contract for it! Horrid...

Interesting that you immediately blame the pollster. Do you have some evidence that their methodology is flawed? PPP has a pretty good reputation, and purposefully picking non-random samples isn't usually the way to score points as a pollster.
Also, just which agenda are you saying PPP is supporting?

Ah, well, yes... .
And whoever responds to any poll probably also understands that their answers can be used as fuel for political bonfires. And, if the person is dissatisfied with having been battered about by purple voting fingers twice in a row, I'm sure they're more inclined to give the answer that looks most damning, whether they actually believe what's being asked or not.
But especially if the target of the question is also an illegal alien non-American socialist Nazi Hitler that wants to pull the plug on grannie.
And if grannie ain't America, then how can Hitler love America, Right?

Why was the question asked in the first place?
Has that same question been asked about any other President? Ever?
Way to give that meme some legs, PPP. Hope you're proud of your role in sustaining that rightwing asshattery.
Oh, want to you give us the proportion of voters who still identify as Republicans? To provide some "perspective" on this bullshit?

Now, has anyone seen any other allusions I can mash up around here!

Yeah, someone will put themselves through the invasive hell that is a presidential election, the stress of trying to run a country and the personal danger of being America's first black president just becuase he hates America.
Let me guess that these people are like the the birthers and deathers in that they are all older white males without a college education.

Wrong, maytyra. Would you say "anything you could" about someone you don't like? Especially knowing that it was going to be published and therefore, if you said something moronic, make you look moronic?
But I'll wait until the poll is published, hopefully with details of its methodology, and I'll see what Nate Silver has to say about it.

Sorry, "odds are" should have been what I said.
I disagree, your name is not going to be attached to a poll. There's no way that an individual will themselves look moronic, since there are no consequences for an individual's answer.
If, when W was president, many Democrats had been asked in a poll "is Bush the Antichrist?, it's a good bet that many would have said "yup, and he's bad at that too."
The problem is with the poll itself and that the question isn't a normal question--it's a sensationalist one.

So what?
I'm sure that at least 48% of Republicans think the world is flat, that it was created in 6 days, that Iraq had WMD's and that Sarah Palin would make an excellent president.

Considering only 20% of Americans consider themselves Republicans that means 10% of this country thinks he doesn't love it which is an insignificant metric unworthy of news.

Your math is a bit off...
the 307m number includes the entire population. Generally its only folks of voting age that are included in polling.
It would be fair to knock at least a quarter to a third off your number...
Point taken none-the-less...

I saw the article lead contains "Republicans think ...." Well since that is an oxymoron I went into the link to see what was actually said, and discovered that the original article didn't use the word "think". PLEASE!!!!!!!! - don't attribute thoughtfulness to such beliefs! Nor would I attribute it to most people who admit to such political affiliations.

48% of republicans say Obama doesn't love America & 27% say that he does. The other 25% haven't listened to Rush or seen Faux news yet to know what they're supposed to say or they aren't sure if being a teabagger is the same as being a Republican.

I think the problem may be with defining what the people being polled mean by "America." If they mean the country they lost when Brown vs. the Topeka Board of Education was decided, then they probably are right. He doesn't love that America. But if they mean a country where human rights are respected (a fantasy in this day and age), then they are wrong.
