The GOP congressional campaign committee sent out a fundraising appeal today calling Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal to put Nancy Pelosi "in her place" over the war in Afghanistan.
The NRCC email accused Pelosi of "backpedaling" on support for the war "amidst increasing criticism from the radical left." Pelosi recently said liberal support for the troop increases McChrystal has advocated could be "difficult" to obtain.
NRCC communications director Ken Spain, quoted in the fundraising email: ""Nancy Pelosi continues to make party politics a higher priority than our national security. Rather than listening to a four-star general's assessments on Afghanistan, General Pelosi somehow believes she is better suited to craft our country's military policy."
"Taxpayers can only hope McChrystal is able to put her in her place," the email concludes.
Late Update: The NRCC defended the email throughout the day today. Greg Sargent posts this email from Spain:
"The Speaker of the House is taking on a highly decorated general who has outlined a strategy in Afghanistan that she once claimed to advocate. This is the same San Francisco liberal whose military foresight -- or lack thereof -- led her to oppose General Petraeus' successful surge strategy. Up until it became politically inconvenient, Pelosi and her puppets were referring to Afghanistan as the 'real central front' in the war on terror, now their excuse is that there is just not enough political will to keep America safe. Nancy Pelosi might think she's a general, but she's playing out of her league and she knows it."

They're looking for the military coup to put the Democrats in their place.

Apparently they've never heard of civilian control of the military.
I was thinking the same thing. Pelosi is the third highest ranking civilian in the government, behind only the president and the vice-president. I think it is Gen. McChrystal, or perhaps more fairly, the GOP projection of McChrystal, who needs to be put in his place. Certainly it would be very much out of his place to be blasting the Speaker of the House.
Besides which, Pelosi is only speaking the truth: it is indeed going to be difficult to obtain liberal support for troop increases. And it's part of her job to make that assessment.

Nancy Pelosi and her Bottomfeeding-followers are criticizing McChrystal for being "Transparent" about his request for more Troops in Afghanistan??? Not to long ago this "Cosmetic Surgeons Dream" Stabbed the CIA in the back multiple times over an accusation she made that she could not provide any evidence to support. I have the utmost respect for the Men & Women in our Armed Forces. When a self-serving ancient mummy like Pelosi offers advice to a Military General who has defended this country with his life, it is clear that Pelosi and her "following fools" will get their butts beat bad in the next election. THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, HEARD ENOUGH & RECEIVED ENOUGH EMPTY PROMISES FROM THIS ADMINISTRATION TO NOT LET IT HAPPEN TWO ELECTIONS IN A ROW. GOOD RIDDANCE YOU MUMMIFIED BAG LADY!!!

I am a former member of the Armed Forces who has served overseas, and I'd like to take this opportunity to slap you upside your fool head and ask you to look at a calendar. W's out of office, son. You have no majority. There haven't been any empty promises. Pull your head out of your rear (if it's possible) and catch up to the times.

For the record, Pelosi isn't any part of "this Administration" (or the last one, or the one before that...).
If you have the utmost respect for our Armed Service members, perhaps you should stop spouting all of your nonsense that makes them look bad while they're out there doing their job to protect you and your right to spout off such nonsense.
I don't see anything respectful about your comment regarding the person that's 3rd in line for Commander in Chief of those Armed Forces.

I know plenty of folks left and right who aren't happy with Obama but I've yet to talk to one who wants more war with the economic mess we're in.
Again, the right is singing to its own wingnut choir.

All I can think of, every time you see a story like this: Nancy Pelosi consistently polls as the most popular leader in the entire Congress. She is more popular than the NRCC. Who is this sort of tactic supposed to impress?

The diminishing pool of donors. The Rs, by choice or momentum, have aligned themselves with the extremists and the fringe. By all indications they have no desire to change direction. Consequently, each elected R is rushing to get as much as they can from each remaining donor before that donor is either tapped out, loses interest, or becomes disillusioned.

They would be wise to note that "her place" is as the Speaker of the House of Representives...which maybe they forgot controls the purse strings for the country. Yes, that includes military spending....Do they really want her back "in her place"?

Her "Place" as these fool tools just can't seem to understand, is 3rd in line for the Commander-in-Chief job. In the meantime, she RUNS the people's House. Numb nutz! I'm looking at you Ricky! You've proven you have as much brain power as the Geico cash wad. You, of course, are a wad of a different sort.

Seems to me her place is second in line to be McChrystal's boss. In my book, though not in command authority, that makes Pelosi both his superior and also instrumental to funding any requested troop increase.
Anyone who still votes for republicans these days has got to be either stupid or embarrassed.

The "Her Place" reference reminds that the GOP is still living in the 17th Century when only men had rights, had opinions and had the ability to be heard, could vote, own property, and rule their roost. Times have changed and they just can't handle it. They are having a hissy fit because they feel so legislatively impotent.

Put her in place?
They apparently dont know that Nancy Pelosi as a member of congress and Leader is higher up the chain of command than McChrystal, and he takes orders from her and congress and the president not the other way around

I do not want war, more war or any war for this country. Obama made campaign promises to end the war in Iraq & Afghanistan, and he said Bush was afraid to go and pull Osama out of the Cave he was hiding in. Well, Obama has yet to visit Osama's Cave. Iraq is far from over & Afghanistan could be ramping up. Obama better get busy fulfilling his campaign promises otherwise he will be a community organizer again after the next election. Obama must have an evil side, or else he is just plain terrible at hiring people. His Administration and his many Czars are a very dishonest & evil group of new hires. He has hired some seriously twisted people, anyone able to read english know who they all are. Yet, he has been friends for years with many of them. The crimes they have committed against children, the IRS & against this Country is a disgrace. They are incompetent as humans and as members of any Presidential Administration.
If Pelosi were the Commander in Chief she would be shot by one of her own men. She is the most disliked member of Congress by the entire Military. The Military has no respect for Dems like Earmark Murtha, Earmark Reid, Earmark Frank, Earmark etc.. In fact, the Democratic congress has an approval rating of 16% today, and a 72% disapproval rating. I am clearly not alone with my lack of respect for Pelosi. The Earmark Witch can award $30 Million Dollars to an Endangered San Francisco Mouse in her Stimulus that Congress never read but HAD to sign. Yet, California is hurting financially in every way imaginable.

You undermine every argument you make by referring to Pelosi as a "witch" and a "mummy" or other such names. (Also, the comment that if she ran the military she'd be killed by her own men was just plain ugly.) Playground namecalling do not win arguments or convince adults of anything. It makes you easier to ignore and mock altogether because you come off a screaming, spittle-flecked jerk who got off the rational bus a long time ago.
