Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), a potential candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is set to boost his ultra-conservative credentials this weekend, putting in an appearance at the Western CPAC conference -- where he'll be in some pretty interesting company.
Tonight, for example, Pawlenty will be featured at a private VIP reception, which also include none other than Floyd Brown. For those of you who have not heard of him, Brown was the originator of the Willie Horton ad against Mike Dukakis in 1988, and currently runs the Web sites Expose Obama and the Impeach Obama Campaign, which warns: "how long should we sit back and permit Barack Hussein Obama to rip apart the fabric of this country before we take action?"
Pawlenty will also keynote a dinner, with other remarks by Ralph Reed -- the former head of the Christian Coalition and ex-business partner of Jack Abramoff.
Pawlenty has been slowly but surely shedding his prior image as a friendly, perhaps even moderate Republican -- for example, he hinted at possible Tenth Amendment challenges to health care reform. This is just another step on that journey of courting the party base.

Timmy has ruined Minnesota. If he gets the nomination and wins he'll ruin the U.S. of A.

Since the disaster election of St. Ronnie in 1980 this country has been on a downward spiral. Not content to have transferred most of the national treasure to their cronies in the corporate scams called big business, impoverished the middle class, and done every thing possible to keep any facts from the public, the Republicans are now cheerleaders for the most vile aspects of the culture. But they own the media, so they are never called out for what they are: greedy, anti-democratic narcissists who will watch their fellow humans die at the rate of 45,000 a year rather than sacrifice a scintilla of money or power.
Honestly, I have trouble understanding how anyone with a conscience or a shred of human decency can call him or herself a Republican. But then, I guess no one does.

We in Minnesota have had Plenty of Pawleney. His extra constitutional un=alotment of our states budget has passed a major tax issue on to the next governor and he will be setting cool not having to pay for his irrisponsible actions.

Just call him T-Bag Pawlenty. I saw a recent Rassmussen poll, he ranks of the bottom of the Repug candidate list. Huckleberry ranks first. T-Bag was 4% I think, so he's got a lot of wingnut ass to kiss to get his numbers up there. If he hadn't fucked us so badly here it would be amusing to watch.

As nasty as Floyd Brown is - particularly in terms of the Willie Horton ad - at least he's just calling for Obama's impeachment. That's not a big deal - I remember in my younger years bumper stickers with the slogan "Impeach Earl Warren"
Sadly, giving the violent talk about President Obama by right wing extremists and the increase in death threats againt him, a call for impeachment seems almost moderate.
Civil or uncivilized discourse doesn't bother me - it's repeated calls to violence which scares me.
