Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may have some answers for hungry reporters, and anxious activists sooner than expected. The Nevada Democrat will be holding a press conference today at 3:15 p.m. to discuss his progress merging two competing health care bills.

We'll, of course, be there, and will pass on updates as quickly as possible.

Let's wait and see what he says. Its hard for me to believe he is going to have anything definitive to say without a solid CBO score behind him.

But maybe he already has that?

Again, we'll see.

It's like a poker game and it's now time for Reid to show his cards.

Email just in from OFA CA

Team California,

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will have a very important press conference at 3:15 pm EST today (Noon PAC time) to discuss the bill he will bring to the Senate floor as early as this week. The House and Senate both have submitted a series of bills to the Office of Management and Budget for analysis; one of those bills from each house will go to the floors of those houses with debate set to begin late this week or early next week.

Meanwhile, there are rumors circulating that the White House and Senator Reid are pursuing different strategies on the public option. These rumors are absolutely false. President Obama has said repeatedly – including during his address to a Joint Session of Congress – that he supports the public option because he believes it could play an essential role in holding insurance companies accountable by increasing choice and competition. That continues to be President Obama's position.

Senator Reid and his team are working to get the most effective bill possible approved by the Senate. President Obama completely supports these efforts and is confident they will succeed, continuing the unprecedented progress that is being made in the House and Senate on health insurance reform.

If you can, please tune in to Senator Reid's press conference at Noon California time today!

Thanks for all you do.

Mary Jane

Gosh, if OFA says it, it MUST be true!

Thanks for that important OFA missive.

Despite what you may have read in TPM and TNR, and despite what Ezra Klein has reported, and despite the evidence of 'your own lying eyes' (to paraphrase Groucho Marx), we now "know" that:

"President Obama completely supports these efforts and is confident they will succeed, continuing the unprecedented progress that is being made in the House and Senate on health insurance reform."

In truth, I respect Mary Jane, but I'm afraid that regional directors are obliged to follow the weak leadership of OFA National Directors.
