Former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, the Republican nominee for Governor of New Jersey, was just attacked this morning by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, for being afraid to come on Morning Joe.
Scarborough, who is himself a former Republican Congressman from Florida, was interviewing Christie's rival, Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine today.
"And by the way, we always get flooded with e-mails, whenever we have the Governor on -- why don't we have Chris Christie on? The answer's very simple: 'cause he won't come on," said Scarborough. "We've asked him, and we ask you again, Christie. I don't know -- I mean, my God, if you can't handle us, you can't handle Mike Barnicle, you sure as Hell can't handle the state of New Jersey."

It is written in the tenth book of the chronicles of the peoples of the Misty Sea that in the year of the third trillenium's break, there will arise in the Far Away a man bearded and wizened, and that he will emerge from the Deep Abyss of Derision and Scorn and will, the the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month slay a Great Soprano Beast bearing the legendary Waist of Girthy Evil. And there will be much rejoicing.

Occasionally Scarborough will have a moment, but he's still mainly a douche.

Agreed. But I gotta give him credit: in the last week, he's had two moments. The comments about the Olympics reaction, and this.

He may be occasionally a douche but he is one of those contemporary lines in the sand, as it were, we can use to calibrate how far off course the GOP actually runs.

It's not political, it's a typical media douche reaction: come on my show or else.

That's douchebag -- he's not fit to touch the sweet female flesh that a douche touches. But he is definitely a douchebag, and not just most of the time. Amazing how tiny crumbs of occasional reasonableness from a right wing media douchebag like Scarborough evokes praise and wonderment. Such is the state of our corporate media that this happens. Almost all of these folks are lackeys for the their right wing overlords. The fourth estate became "For the State" during the Bush years -- now they deny the legitimacy of the Obama presidency, and view their corporate overlords as the new "state." Which is, if I am not mistaken, a classic definition of contemporary fascism -- state corporatism, aided and abetted by a compliant media.

Just more windowdressing to pull in the young heterosexual male demographic. IOW, as much an insult to thinking people as Scarborough.

maybe he is a nocturnal kind of guy?
maybe he likes having conversations with intelligent people?

now why would a republican go on msnbc? joe has been drifting towards the left ever since he picked up his 1st paycheck at msnbc, and still he proclaims himself as the 'house' republican. listen, corzine has been terrible as governor but his money will get him elected again. as for christie , nothing to gain by going on msnbc. its the same reason obama won't go on fox news, both are scared. i live in jersey, won't vote for corzine, christie hasn't closed the deal with me, so i will go to a 3rd party. i do vote, i just don't have to vote for either of them. as for joe, how many pieces of silver did it take for you to become judas?

Christie won't appear because his entire campaign is based on "I am not Corzine." That was good enough six months ago, but now now. He has no concrete plans. There is no "there" there.

in any other state 'i'm not corzine' would be enough, but here in jersey where votes are bought and sold i think you're right. the cities of newark, jersey city, trenton, camden, paterson, passaic, and the hudson county machine will be enough to put corzine over the top. but corzine is no fool, he ain't paying for a landslide.just enough to win, less then 100,000 votes.
