The Republican National Committee is up in arms over a Washington Times report that the Obama administration is allegedly using access to the White House as a fundraising tool for the Democratic National Committee, and the RNC is now calling for an investigation.

"The seriousness of this issue requires an immediate investigation looking into the degree and details of fundraising efforts between the White House and DNC, whether there was any quid pro quo offered to donors, and the names of White House officials who were involved in such activities," RNC chairman Michael Steele said in a statement.

What is it about Democrats that drives them to sell our institutions to the highest bidder? Cronyism takes another leap forward, and this time it really is Clintonian.

Steele is trying to speak to his ever deminishing choir but it is a two way street the WH-though the bowling alley is in a building beside the WH and NOT IN THE WHITEHOUSE...

It has always been a gathering place for the fundraising crowds of both parties...Steele and the rest of the repub/neocon are showing their hand--they must not be raising enough funds themselves!

What is it about Republicans who actually believe everything the Washington Moonie Times prints? How typical! Flaunting their ignorance by using no critical thought at all. And thereby helping to show how the Republican dumbing down of education has worked. LOL!
Sorry, but just because de facto cronyism (see "Exxon employee in charge of climate change office review" for starters!) happened under the Shrub administration and is taken as being standard procedure by Republicans does not mean it is happening under a smarter (literally) administration.

But please keep shooting yourself in the foot. You do a great job. Almost as good as Cheney. Keep trying.

Yes, it is truly a shocking contrast to the rigid, intractible wall between government and well-heeled business interests under the last dozen Republican administrations.

What is it about Republicans that leads them to always point out the needle in their opponents eye while ignoring the log in their own?

Can Steele call an investigation or would a Republican House or Senate member have to? Because said Republican Rep or Senator would then have to defend why they didn't think it was a worthy issue to investigate when Bush was doing it for eight years.

I'm all for major campaign finance reforms and would gladly tackle it now if it meant the GOP would sign on because of the short term goal of limiting President Obama.

But to all of a sudden cry foul now is disingenuous.

Any asshat can "call for an investigation." In fact, I feel a few calls coming on myself. Just can't contain it . . .

"I call for an investigation of you! I demand an investigation of Michael Steele! It is imperative that we have an exhaustive investigation of the Islamocommiefacist flouridation conspiracy! I demand an investigation of the people demanding an investigation of ACORN!"

Isn't this fun?

"I demand a detailed investigation of Shannon Elizabeth's lingere which I must be appointed to conduct personally! I call for an investigation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation!"

Can't stop me.

No one remembers now, but alleged campaign finance crime was the very first "scandal" to break during the Clinton Administration. I distinctly remember a talking head stating with much certainty and a controlled sense of alarm that President Clinton had absolutely no future, except to resign the Presidency over this. Bear in mind... this was long before anyone except her mother knew who Monica Lewinsky was.

As we now know, they were bound and determined to find something that would necessitate Clinton's resigning the Presidency, whatever it took; Whitewater, campaign finance, Buddhist monks, a blow job. The end was more important than the means. "Campaign finance" was simply the first of many turds, thrown against the wall to see if it would stick.

If Obama has ever had a kiss with a woman that lasted three seconds too long, since he's been married... mark my words, that "scandal" is sitting in the GOP "Break Glass In Case Of Emergency" box, as we speak.

The way they keep trying to rerun the 90s is just another symptom of their complete moral and intellectual bankruptcy. They're like some pathetic loser reliving his glory days as a high school football player. (If not like Captain Queeg trying to recreate his triumph in cracking of the disappearing cheese mystery when he was a young peacetime officer by scouring his ship for the strawberry pilferers.)

Kill health care reform, start some investigations and we're back in business, baby!

Pathetic.

Steele doesn't matter, his own party ignores him. He is wasting his time asking for an investigation of anything. Nobody and I do mean nobody cares what he thinks or says.

By the way when he sat down to waste his time, I hope he makes sure that the investigation also covers the period that Bush was in office.

Steel probably didn't come up with the idea of an investigation, it was more than likely the idea of one his right wing RNC staff. Their job is to come up with a daily right wing press release to make some folk think that they are influencing the daily political climate.

Steele should be investigated. I call on an investigation of Michael Steels immediately! Now lets see how far that will go, about as far as his request to the powers that be to investigate the WH fund raising.

Guys there will not be an investigation--The Obama administration has done nothing illegal. This is all a waste of time and Steele knows it. This was all they could come up with for today's Republican smear campaign.

The Republicans will continue trying to bring President Obama down but they will surely fall into their own pit. The Frankensten Monster they have created in the extreme tea party right wing will attack its creators.

I've never understood the argument that the President should not be allowed to invite donors to visit the White House.

This is obviously a IOKIYAR issue.

I completely agree, Mr. Steele. Let's investigate Bush's fundraising at the same time, shall we?
