Among the critics scratching their heads over President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize? The Taliban.

Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid tells the AFP, "We condemn the award of the Noble Peace Prize for Obama."

More:

"We have seen no change in his strategy for peace. He has done nothing for peace in Afghanistan. He has not taken a single step for peace in Afghanistan or to make this country stable."

"We condemn the institute's awarding him the peace prize. We condemn this year's peace prize as unjust."

Mujahid's comments came via telephone "from an undisclosed location."

Sounds just like a Republican or Libertarian tea-bagger really! All three share quite a lot in common.

Well, both the Taliban and the Republicans are also deeply religious (at least to the outside), right?

Thus speak the peace-loving souls who killed seventeen people yesterday with a suicide bomber aimed at diplomats, sent another suicide bomber yesterday to take out UN relief workers and who regularly kill and mutilate women and little girls for the crime of seeking an eduction. Yeah, salaam, guys. Thanks for your input.

"taliban=GOP of the Arab world"

You've got it backward. The GOP (as currently constituted) is the Taliban of North America.

That is a little more accurate.
I gotta say, that "undisclosed location" bit has thrown me a little.
Has Cheney piped up yet?

Why? Why? are there not liberal pundits, and politicians countering the right wing flip out with "So far the only two groups that condemn the awarding of the peace prize to Obama has been the Taliban, and the political right in the US"! Or "why does Rush, Hannity, and Beck love the Taliban and hate America?" That's all you need to do. The right is doing our work for us! Attack liberal pundits. Attack!

The Taliban is cause of the misery that Afghanistan is now going through. Hearing them complain about peace is Afghanistan is like hearing the GOP complain about the state of the American economy.

Thanks, Evan, for reading the Canadian papers, since US outlets are too busy repeating the Fox & Limbaugh litany.

The Taliban and a lot in the GOP both share the belief they are God's Only Party (along with a few other groups as well). Lately they seem to be sharing the same attitude towards women as well (keeping her in her place).
