I've been after the White House for several hours for a response to Sen. Joe Lieberman saying he'd back a filibuster on health care.

This just in, from spokeswoman Linda Douglass:

"We're pleased the process is moving forward. The Majority Leader has spoken with all of the members of his caucus and will continue to work with them to address their concerns as the bill is refined and he prepares to take it to the floor."

Coupled with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs saying constituents will hold lawmakers accountable, it is clear there's no hard line yet from the White House.

Lots of readers are writing in to ask about President Obama's support for Lieberman during his 2006 primary when he was booted from the Democratic party, and about when Obama urged Senate leadership to let the independent retain his chairmanship of the Homeland Security committee. The White House hasn't mentioned it.

Meanwhile, if you call Lieberman's Senate office and try to leave him a message, "The mailbox belonging to Senator Lieberman's office is full. To disconnect press one."

If only there was a lifesize and "for real"

"To disconnect press one." for Lieberman.

That being said, Lieberman should support Obama, who supported him concerning his chairmanship etc. Very ugly of Lieberman, in my opinion.

OFA Email just in

Dear John ,

Last week, you and other health care activists helped make over 340,000 calls to members of Congress and demanded real health reform. Less than a week later, a bill with the public option is being brought to the floor of the Senate for a vote. While this is great news, we're at a crucial moment--votes in the House and Senate are about to take place, and insurance industry lobbyists are frantically warning members of Congress that it is not in their interest to "ever vote on this thing."

As always, that's where you come in: help us deliver all of California--including our "Blue Dog" members of Congress--and pass true health care reform in 2009.

Join us tonight at 7:30pm for the strategy going forward with OFA State Director Mary Jane Stevenson and special guest Patrick Romano, Health Care for America NOW! California Director.

Little weasel wouldn't listen anyway - just lets it fill up so he can ignore everyone. His ego is so outsized he thinks that the senate seat belongs to him, not the people.

I'd like to hurl rotten tomatoes at him.

Woah!!!

How is losing a primary equal to being "booted from the Democratic party"? Joe abandoned us of his own accord.

Right,Lieberman is not a Dem he left the party & as such should have never been given the honor of chairmanship of a subcommittee. But really it's reflective of poor leadership qualities from the Prez & Harry Reid.

Those who weren't siding with you in battle(Prez Campaign) should not be given privileged assignments over those who stood by you.It was a slap in the face of other Dem Senators who worked for Obama to become Prez to turn around & offer chairmanship of a sub-committee to Lieberman.

This is not the first time Obama has shown weak & faulty judgement and once more he has been bitch-slapped by those he goes out of his way to brush up against.Remember Grassley anyone ?

Won't surprise me non if GWBush comes out & smack Obama next.Obama is still unwilling to uncover Bush's crime on America.
