Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-MN) chief of staff Michelle Marston, a long-time veteran of Capitol Hill who has guided Bachmann in her much-increased national TV presence this year, has quit her post.
The Politico reports:
In an e-mail exchange with POLITICO, Marston declined to say why she's going.
"I'm just not talking about it, and frankly I don't think there's a story here," Marston wrote. "Now, the thousands of people calling our office to tell us [they're] coming to Capitol Hill tomorrow - that's a story."
...
A conservative Republican House member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, suggested that Bachman's views - and her willingness to state them - make it hard for her to keep staff.
"When your captain's crazy, it's time to find a new ship," the lawmaker said.

I think the chief of staff wanted to leave before she became a party to whatever craziness the "Freedom Fighters" are going to bring.
CHIEF: "If you invite a bunch of tea partiers directly into the Capitol to vent their frustrations to the whites of lawmakers' eyes, someone's going to get hurt."
BACHMANN: "No, it'll be fine! I told them to bring video cameras, not pitchforks! I'll be a virtual bloody uprising, not a real one!"
CHIEF: "Uh huh. I quit."

She called them "Security cameras".
Actually, Shelly, they're mounted on the ceiling in those little black domes, so don't worry, everything will be recorded for posterity

As the sorely missed Carlin once mused, if crime-fighters fight crime, and firefighters fight fires, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?

I wish George Carlin were still around to comment on the craziness that passes for run-of-the-mill politics these days!

OTOH, every day's a new adventure.

I've always wondered how in the world she got anyone to work for her. A little while working for her would make the home fires seem a lot better than adventure.

She was losing staff pretty regularly a while back, but they've been fairly stable of late. What a shame.
What wire did Bachmann trip this time that she hadn't already plowed through?

Is Michelle Marston going to write an autobiography now? It would make a good double bill with "Going Rogue." :)

That is not fair!
You un-buckle straight jackets. Once we get Michelle pacified and into the 'quiet room' I don't want to think of her unzipping her restraints with her teeth. In fact I won't feel safe until bolt-cutters are needed to set her free.
Palin-Pawlenty 2012! Motto: "We are not as batshit insane as that Bachmann-Joe Wilson Crew!"
Odd thing, both Palin and Bachmann are conventionally attractive. As of course, and even more so, is the alien commander in V. It was so much easier when our reptilian overlords Nixon, Cheney, Bush and Rush were openly identifiable, having to look deeply into Bachmann's eyes to see the swirling dragon eyes within is just too strenuous.

Congressional Congresswoman Katherine Harris had similar problems keeping staff.
Both are "social conservatives" elected primarily because they supported the whacked out Evangelicals and could be used by movement conservatives.Do the House Republicans have a job-slot for a whacked out evangelical who makes irrational statements to the media? If so, did Bachmann move into that job slot after Katherine Harris left the House to run for Florida Senator?

Let's hope she follows KH's lead, gets an even bigger head and runs for Senate. THEN we will get to see her self-distruct *EXACTLY* the same way Harris did.

So the subtext is: she actually believes in that stuff - whereas most Republicans say the same things but don't really take them seriously (you know, like Larry Craig/Mitch McConnell and homos, or like these rabid free-marketers who are in the tank for this or that sub-branch of american capitalism)...
