House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) made it clear at the tea party "House Call" this afternoon that President Obama won't be getting his party's health care vote.
"Your efforts to stop this bill are being heard loud and clear," Cantor told the thousands gathered at the base of the Capitol in what some billed as a smaller reunion of the 9/12 rallies.
"Be assured not one Republican will vote for this bill," Cantor said, to big cheers and shouts of "Kill the bill."
The crowd, pulled together to try and influence conservative Blue Dog Democrats before Saturday's vote on the House health care bill, said the Blue Dogs were critical.
Cantor told them "we will try to pick up" as many Democrats as they can to defeat the bill.
Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) told them he was "standing with freedom-loving Americans" against the bill.
Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) called the crowd "freedom fighters" who will stop the bill.

The real shocker would be if the Democrats could guarantee the same level of support for anything they produce. As crappy as their agenda is, the Republicans know how to get results.
As Howard Dean says, what's the use of having a party if you can't count on your own members for support?

Right on! The new Harvard study that says 45,000 Americans die every year because of lack of health insurance is a WAR with greater casualties than 911 or the terrorists could ever accomplish. Yet the rethuglicans turn their back on sick and dying Americans, suck the bloody lips of insurance money, and pronounce themselves so proud ........ rethuglicans are pure evil.

It's not only official. It's officially official:
Steele to centrists: ‘We’ll come after you’
“We’re with them, were walking this walk with them,” Steele said of the “tea partyers.”
“I don’t need you to identify as a Republican. I need you to identify as a conservative. We are the conservative party.”
It's truly over for the Republican Party.

Can we just redistribute our tax dollars back to our own states? This way the Blue States that pay more in taxes will more easily be able to continue Educational, Health programs and infrastructure work instead of subsidizing the Red States who seem to hate government help.
If people are so ignorant and angry that they don't want government help, give them what they ask for.

Excuse me, but why the FUCK has Lee Atwater been allowed to run Washington, DC for the past 30 years? This kind of hatemongering should not be allowed to go unchallenged. Why do our national Democratic leaders NOT make the consistent Republican fearmongering, hatemongering and deception an issue?
Alan Grayson does it once and everybody faints in horror. Have you heard ONE "liberal media" spokesperson even *note* the hate speech going on?
It is a disgusting oversight. The Overton Window has been pushed long enough and far enough. This is bullshit. Our elected representatives allow the right to control EVERY debate with this crap. We need to stop this.
If our representatives aren't prepared to take it to them, then what choice do we have? We might as well give up if we aren't prepared to play hardball.
Here's a start: "We'd like to include Republicans in the healthcare discussion the way they keep saying they want, but they aren't actually interested in helping the American people, only their campaign contributors. You can see proof of that by today's announcement that they're simply going after Obama. The Republican Party is owned by corporations and all Republican politicians work to satisfy the people for whom they will eventually be working: defense contractors, communications giants, etc. You can't believe anything they say, because as you know, they are serial liars who say whatever helps them at the moment. Just listen to the hateful, evil things they're saying about the President at today's hate rally. They're accusing Democrats of destroying America, hating freedom, being worse than terrorists. Why would anyone want to be nice to such hatemongers?"
or more simply: "Republicans want to see the President dead. They don't have the guts to admit it, but they're doing everything they can to stoke up hatred, fear and ignorance amongst their dopey, gun-swinging followers. You better watch for it. They'll even blame liberals when it happens. They have no shame and no principles. Republicans are greedy amoral scum."

As I recall, the number back in September rally was close to 75,000. Congressman Cantor is now saying that Republicans will vote with the Tea Baggers, who number less than a small city? That's a lot of representation for those lucky Tea Baggers. I didn't realize that Republicans showered their largesse on such a small interest group.

So here's a question for the Democratic leadership: after this, isn't it about time to drop the "we want a bipartisan bill" nonsense? The Repukes have clearly stated that they won't vote for ANY bill, so who cares what they think about the bill that passes. Drop the BS and pass Medicare for all.

Wish they would (pass HR 676, 30 page bill that sets up an enhanced Medicare for All). The MSM and their hyperventilating style is the only possible roadblock. Well...that and the political will to pass it. Which is where an engaged citizenry comes it. Whereas the MSM is not accountable to anyone but their shareholders.

No. Because despite all this crazy, the nanosecond they stop saying they want a bipartisan bill is the nanoecond the MSM begins saying the lack of bipartisanship is both sides fault equally. This is only hard if you think the talk of wanting bipartisanship evidences anything other than blocking the MSM compulsion degenerate into the "on one hand, on the other hand" narrative mode.

How can Cantor sit there and lie so easily? It's unsettling, to say the least. He claims that the the bill is so far outside what the people want. Is he high, or just completely ignorant? 70% of the American people want health care reform with a public option. That smattering of ignorant bigots protesting today is a very tiny minority acting like some kind of majority. The sheer stupidity of their stance is mind-numbing.
They didn't give a crap when the Bush administration ran up more debt and expanded the size of the federal government more than any other administration in our history. They, and their pretend anger, is a joke and an insult to the rest of the country that recognizes them for the bigoted frauds they truly are.

This would have been even more impressive if he and the other GOP obstructionists would have emphasized their opposition to government funded healthcare by giving up their health insurance. That would would have caught my attention. At least they could say they believe in and are committed to where they stand on healthcare. As it is they are fine with their taxpayer funded healthcare, but they don't want it extended to those who really need it. I am really beginning to detest the GOP.

I think there might be a more sinister plan here. Yes a point could be made for The Overton Window but I think it’s a little bit more then that.
The Republican leadership hasn’t gone completely crazy, well some of their supporters have but that’s beside the point. What they are doing is pushing a message that the current administration is extreme to the point that they have secretly taken over and are dismantling our society. Now there is The Overton Window but we are not even on the same planet here for the window to be moved.
What they are trying to do is convince the ADMINISTATION that this is what people think, which will force Obama and others to become more conservative in their choices. They are trying to move Obama’s opinion, not ours.
You can argue that it’s the same thing, but it’s not. There is a subtle difference here.
Think about this example. Let’s assume you are fixated on always being on time and you always show up on time, it’s just the way you roll. No if people keep saying things like you are always 5 minutes late (yes it's a lie), and they keep saying it even though you show up on time what would you do? You actually start showing up earlier to prove them wrong. Sorry crappy example but I only have 3 min to type this before next meeting.
Anyway, Obama is sitting in the WH thinking, shit, they think I’m a socialist; I better not do too much or go too left at once and actually give them real fodder.
And you know what? Their trick is working.
When Obama started, he was going at a breakneck pace, almost every day he was doing news conferences about overturning this or expanding that or signing this new bill, etc..
Then the republicans got on TV and started saying you are doing too much too fast but that didn’t work. Now they are saying he is extreme and a socialist etc, so Obama slows down and actually starts moving further to the right.
