Newark mayor Cory Booker has visited President Obama's White House four times, including one meeting with the president himself, according to the White House visitor logs that were released this afternoon.
The meeting with Obama occurred in March. There was another White House visit later that month for Booker, as well as one in May. And in August, Booker met with Valerie Jarrett, a close confidante of the president.
Booker and Obama have long been political allies, and some observers have noted that Booker's "post-racial' political style echoes the president's own.

Cory Booker is a genius--Rhodes scholar, Yale law school graduate, Stanford. Keep an eye on him. He's going to be big.
From Wikipedia:
Crime has dropped significantly in the City of Newark, which currently leads the nation in violent crime reduction. From 2006-2008, crime dropped by the following percentages: murders 36%, shooting incidents 41%, rapes 30%, and auto thefts 26%. In 2008, Newark had its lowest murder rate since 1959. Despite the success indicated by these statistics, as the global economic recession set in, robberies rose 27% in 2008 and another 10% through late June 2009. As of July 26, 2009, murders are down 42% overall, rapes are down 41% overall and robberies are down 12% since 2008.

I hope he is and I agree he is definitely a rising star. Unfortunately I have heard rumors he is gay. I could care less if he is or not, but if he is, the slime machine will find out and it will be curtains.

I'm glad he's getting guidance from some upper-level Democratic operatives. He was rumored to be a potential replacement for Jon Corzine this year in the New Jersey gubernatorial, and there's a good chance he'll take on fatboy Chris Christie in 2013. And to think, he was almost shoved out of politics by the local Democratic machine because he had the gumption to challenge a corrupt incumbent mayor!

In 2005, I thought Booker would be the first black president...in 2020. I couldn't conceive of it happening earlier (shows what I know).
I really like Booker. He's principled and smart...and survives in New Jersey's political scene. Gay, straight, indifferent, I don't care. Vin Diesel can play him in the biopic!
