DNC chair Tim Kaine says last night's Democratic defeats in two big states President Obama won last year -- including Kaine's home state of Virginia -- do not mean the American people are turning on the president.
"Obama is actually more popular today than he was on Election Day last year," Kaine told CNN this morning.
Kaine broke down the results from the Democratic point of view on air. "You just need to read these as local races with local concerns," he said of New Jersey and Virginia.

And unlike Michael Steele's absurd comments last night, Kaine's actually have data to support his. Exit polls in NJ and VA both showed by good majorities that Obama's policies were not a factor in the elections.

That's hogwash.A Prez who campaigned on change.Governing with huge majorities in the congress and so far seems enamored by the "staus quo" can not be more popular than he was a yr ago.
Maybe Kaine is trying to cover the fact Howard Dean as Chman of DNC was more efficient getting the grassroots energised than Kaine. On the other hand nothing substantial has been done for the grassroots by the WH.

You seem to think your opinion is fact. Say what you want about Kaine, and his effectiveness, but statements about Obama's popularity can be verified or disproven by looking at polling data. And when you look at polling data, he could be more popular than a year ago, no matter how deeply you think he's a failure.

A year ago, Obama's highest favorable in polling was 63% and his lowest, 50% for an average of 56.5%. Today, he sits with a 60% high and a 54% low, for an average of 57%. So Kaine is correct: he is more popular today than he was a year ago.

Kaine has been completely MIA for the past year now. He should be on all of the cable news shows defending Obama, HCR and the Dem agenda, as Steele has done for the other side. He needs to go.
