Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is calling the Tea Partiers back to D.C.

Much like Rep. Michele Bachmann did last week, King is calling on Tea Partiers to head to the Capitol and protest the Democratic health care reform bill. King is calling on the protesters to meet at 1 p.m. tomorrow, the day the House is expected to hold its floor vote on the bill.

King's event appears to be hastily planned. Other than "Republican Members of Congress," and "Americans concerned about our health care future," the release from the Representative's office is unclear about who they expect to be there. Under "Other Guests," the office writes "TBA."

The release went out today.

It's doubtful that King's Tea Party will draw the crowds Bachmann's did yesterday. Levi Russell, a national figure in the Tea Party Patriot movement who sent people to D.C. yesterday, said he had not heard of the event until TPMDC called him asking about it this afternoon.

Russell is currently on tour with the Tea Party Express and said he'll be somewhere in Texas tomorrow.

Late Update: Dick Armey just sent out an invitation to King's Tea Party to his FreedomWorks.org mailing list. From the email:

If you have even 15 minutes today, please also go visit your local Congressional office and tell the staff that your Congressman should VOTE NO on Pelosi-Care tomorrow.

...

Finally, if you live in DC, Maryland or Northern Virginia, please join us tomorrow at 1:00pm on the East Steps of the US Capitol Building in Washington, as we stand outside in solidarity against Pelosi-Care. This is our last chance to convince the Congressmen who haven't made up their minds to VOTE NO.

Know why the "rally" was changed to a "press event" yesterday?

Technically, Thursday's GOP-sponsored rally at the Capitol was a "press conference" (a Capitol Police spokeswoman explained that the lawmakers didn't have a permit for a demonstration). The speakers took no questions at this news conference, instead calling, at least a dozen times, for the Pelosi bill's death.

That's really all it takes to circumvent the permit policy?

I think you're wrong about the turnout. I predict that by the time they're finished counting, it will turn out that a bazillion-jillion show. In fact, go ahead and put that graphic up on Fox now: "Bazillion-jillion Tea Protesters Protest Tomorrow"

When you're born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you're born in America, you get a front row seat.

If they do this every other day, won't the teabaggers eventually become that guy with the "WILL WORK FOR FOOD" sign that you don't even notice when you drive by?

In St. Louis we are having a Veterans Day Parade on Saturday - I would think in light of what happened at Ft. Hood yesterday all of the reps and senators would be asking us to go to these type of events and show our support and respect for the troops - past, present and future. Just my opinion.

Let's hope so. Has TPM covered the Ft. Hood shooting at all?

Yes I think that TPM has covered the Fort Hood tragedy quite well. But PMAR's suggestion is a good one. Btw: I actually believe that they may be calling for another Tea Bagging rally because the one yesterday was totally upstaged by the Fort Hood shooting!

Why would a Republican suddenly care about the troops? They haven't so far.

I'll have my tea at home in the morning, thank you very much. With no repubs present. No teabags either. I like mine with loose tea. Tea leaves that "need" other tea leaves to work their magic!

Because Bachmann's tea party was bumped off the front page by the "American Islamic Terrorist Rampage."

Oh f***. Bachmann sure set another "standard." As the next elections are approaching we will see more of those attention wholes eager to host nutjob parties in front of the Capitol.

What do these people do for a living that they can take days off to go carry a sign around?

...and could somebody tell the TeaPle that we live in a Democracy. We have elections, everyone casts a ballot and the winners set the policy. Unless they get more than 69,456,897 people at their rally, we really don't give a f83k. 300 screaming morons
