Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) has been actively seeking seeking the endorsement of none other than Sarah Palin in his race for Senate, the Washington Post reports, a sharp turnaround from prior image as a moderate and even his own open criticism of Palin herself.
In a memo, Kirk wrote that he was hoping for Palin to support his candidacy when she comes to Chicago to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show, saying that "the Chicago media will focus on one key issue: Does Gov[ernor] Palin oppose Congressman Mark Kirk's bid to take the Obama Senate seat for the Republicans?"
Kirk has formerly had a reputation as a moderate Republican able to win in Democratic areas, such as his own district that voted for Barack Obama by 61%-38%. And in October of 2008, he openly declared of Palin, "I would have picked someone different."
But the pressure of seeking the Republican statewide nomination, with a primary electorate that has become increasingly right-wing, sure has him looking for the Palin stamp of approval.

He needs to pay her an appropriate fee.
It can be disguised for ethics reasons as "consulting fee" by the campaign. The more consulting they pay for, the stronger the endorsement! Pay even more and get some fancy pageant walkin'!

I don't think Kirk is nearly rabid enough. Maybe they can bring back Alan Keyes for a second try.

Wasn't the Palinization of NY-23 part of Hoffman's problem? That and his cluelessness on "parochial" issues.

As an Illinois native, I really hope he does have her come to campaign for him. While she may have some sway in the rural areas, it probably will motivate the Chicago machine pretty fierce.

I wouldn't call Kirk a moderate after violating the Logan act and undermining our foreign policy in China by telling the Chinese that the United States lied to the world about our deficit. This guy would sabotage his own nation for non-existent brownie points with the Chinese.

How do YOU spell weasel?
"Does Gov[ernor] Palin oppose Congressman Mark Kirk's bid to take the Obama Senate seat for the Republicans?"
Reminds me of Mike Griffin's attempt to strong-arm Obama into retaining him as NASA cheif.
Weasel.

Mark Kirks' facile nature knows no bounds. Truly, rubber neck man. I'm being so polite I can't stand it. The best thing that could happen to Kirk is that Palin endorses him in his VERY MODERATE collar county district (which will kill him here) AND that his voting record from the 10th kills him every where else. He is a whore who voted for Bush on everything while he pretended to be a moderate in a district which was switched to GOP in a curious gerrymandering. He voted for everything Bush wanted in a district that did NOT VOTE FOR BUSH!! (swear word omitted)
