Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is usually thought of as a loyal Republican in Washington -- but he has now been censured by a county Republican organization back home, for working too much with the Democrats.
The Charleston County GOP has censured Graham, citing his work with Democrats on a climate change bill as the final straw, and saying that he he has weakened the Republican brand.
County party chairwoman Lin Bennett says a similar resolution will introduced at the state GOP convention next year.
Graham need not have any immediate worries about a primary challenge. He was just re-elected last year, and won't on the ballot again until 2014.
Late Update: Greg Sargent has the full text of the censure resolution. It's fun reading, including its line about how "U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham - in the name of bipartisanship - continues to weaken the Republican brand and tarnish the ideals of freedom, rule of law, and fiscal conservatism."

Graham's position, if I remember it correctly, made alot of sense. I can see how that offended the GOP.

Damn it!
The GOP worked hard to get this country in a ditch.
What's Lindsey think he's doing trying to get the country out of the ditch?

Although this seems a bit humorous on the surface - If Graham isn't "republican enough" who is? Yet it is also reason for concern. It pushes these right wing guys even further right. A prime example is Senator Grassley from Iowa. It has been reported he was not allowed a delegate seat at the national republican convention because he was to liberal. He has responded by pushing his already right wing attitude even further right. The national conversation can not be effective if we can not allow a wide spectrum of ideas to be expressed in a civil manner.

What can you say about South Carolina, except perhaps that Sherman's army was too easy on them.

Republicans used to stand for, at least in principle, for things like "pragmatic" and "frugal", now they've got Birthers, the Cold Earthers, Flat Earthers, Blow up the Earth-ers, and Theocracy Now all vying for the microphone.

All that just for believing global warming? I hope he doesn't acknowledge evolution or they'll try to force him to resign.

It's gone to the point where one party LITERALLY treats the other like the enemy. It's really ridiculous.

Lindsey needs to do something to endear himself to those people. I'd suggest a hike along the Appalachian Trail like Sanford took but I suspect Lindsey would be more inclined to fly to Minneapolis than Buenos Aires.
