Don't be surprised if someone asks you if you love freedom this Thursday. The national organizers of Tea Party Patriots have singled out Dec. 3 for a national recruitment drive, calling on all good tea partiers "to reach out to 1 new person who is not a member of Tea Party Patriots" and ask them to join up.
From the TPP email sent to tea partiers today and obtained by TPM:
Tell them why you are a member of the tea party movement and ask them if they agree with our core principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets ... If you send emails, follow up with phone calls to the people to add a personal touch.
The TPP organizers say expanding the ranks of tea partiers is important now more than ever.
From the email:
It is imperative that we grow our membership in the coming weeks to continue to build momentum, communicate with like-minded Americans, and increase our effectiveness.
It's set to be a busy week for tea partiers, with groups from Vermont and New York returning to Capitol Hill tomorrow to lobby senators to vote against the health care bill, according to the email. And on Wednesday, the tea party glitterati will gather in D.C. for the world premiere of Tea Party: The Movie.
There are signs the group is planning another health care tea party in D.C. along the lines of the one hosted by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) on Nov. 5.
From the TPP email:
[I]t looks like we are going to ask people from around the country to go back to DC on December 15th. We will have more details after the Leadership Conference Call and also after National Coordinators meet with a few other like-minded organizations this week. Do not make reservations yet, but do pencil it in on your calendars. We will have more details on these dates in the next day or two.

I cannot wait to join. No. Really. I have always wondered what it would feel like to be silly and uninformed.

I've been waiting so long for this. I just drew a Hitler mustache on Obama's picture, I've got a fake beer belly suit, got my fake hillbilly teeth, got my meth, I have 3 AR 15's, a 45, a snub nose 38, a derringer, a zip gun, my flag shirt, my pointy hat, cigarettes, I hit myself in the head with a hammer to make it lumpy, I rented a retarded girlfriend, and her retarded baby, her retarded brother and their mother and her brother(father), we got beer and sandwiches. Am I forgetting anything?

It's great that we can laugh at these fools, but at least they're making an effort to get their voice heard and a good portion of the media takes them at least somewhat seriously. Why can't supporters of reform get themselves organized and make it clear a huge portion of the population actually supports reform?

The questions they're going to ask are on a par with "When did you stop beating your wife?" Any answer you give will get you in trouble.

The last rally 5 NOV was Guy Fawkes Day, when the English Parliament was to be blown up by kegs of gun powder. This Thursday the start of the trial of Jefferson Davis, the one and only President of the Confederacy. (Not many people have both Scottish and South Carolina natives in their office.) Is this just a coinky-dink for these "plain folks from real Amurika"? Or this this becoming a first Thursday regular event?
