Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), whose endorsement of Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman in the NY-23 special election helped to give him a huge boost against moderate Republican nominee Dede Scozzafava, posted this note last night on her Facebook account, commenting on Hoffman's defeat by Democrat Bill Owens:

The race for New York's 23rd District is not over, just postponed until 2010. The issues of this election have always centered on the economy - on the need for fiscal restraint, smaller government, and policies that encourage jobs. In 2010, these issues will be even more crucial to the electorate. I commend Doug Hoffman and all the other under-dog candidates who have the courage to put themselves out there and run against the odds.
To the tireless grassroots patriots who worked so hard in that race and to future citizen-candidates like Doug, please remember Reagan's words of encouragement after his defeat in 1976:

"The cause goes on. Don't get cynical because look at yourselves and what you were willing to do, and recognize that there are millions and millions of Americans out there that want what you want, that want it to be that way, that want it to be a shining city on a hill."

This is what she wanted to say at the McCain concession speech also. "This result is not a setback, but only shows that the beginning of the 2012 campaign for victory has already begun!" That would have been her point.

McCain people felt insecure and shut off the lights and the sound onstage.

Why would she want to be President? She'd just quit when things got dodgy.

The Republicans are just a broken record. They had eight years to reduce government and grow jobs but they did neither.

Let's take a moment to consider how Sarah's thinking mirrors that of a banana-republic dictator: If you can't win the election, you "postpone" it until you can. If your opponent somehow wins, you pretend like it didn't happen.

That's the mentality. When they win, it's just an insignificant intermediate step. When she wins (if ever again), it's coronation time.

Except that she then abdicates and goes off frolicking about.

Actually, Sarah, I think you should see it as a referendum on you. Throwing your weighty endorsement behind a fellow wingnut not only didn't help your cause, but it helped put a Democrat in a seat for the first time in over a century.

Sarah, admit it. You're a quitter and you're a failure. You lie about the big things, you lie about the little things, and behind the facade you're really not much of anything, except for a pair of perpetually flapping lips.

If you and your fellow anti-moderate GOPers make a repeat of NY-23 in every Congressional race in 2010, I guarantee your party will dissolve in the fallout.

Sarah Palin attracts huge crowds and inspires excited, raucus, and conservative patriotism like no other can--not Barak, not Michelle. Liberals fear her more than any other rival, and that is precisely why Obama's minions malign and discredit her. Clearly, if Sarah Palin were a dismissive and insignificant historical footnote, she would garner little post-election attention as did Dan Quayle and John Edwards.

It will be interesting to see if the crude and sexist treatment afforded her by liberals will backfire and propel her to the White House, by a large majority of women voters.

As for NY-23, Sarah Palin's minimal involvement resoundingly precluded another liberal RINO from assuming office from a Republican district, while serving notice to GOP insiders that GOP candidates must possess conservative principles to which conservatives, moderates, and independents consistently and increasingly respond.
