Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) has posted this YouTube video, condemning the use of Holocaust imagery at yesterday's Capitol Hill Tea Party, and calling out Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) for organizing the event, as well as the Republican leaders who attended.
Israel made it clear that he believes in the basic right to free speech, and that he took an oath to defend the Constitution and the rights of people that he disagrees with: "But with that right comes a responsibility by leaders to condemn that kind of expression. I just cannot believe that Congresswoman Bachmann sponsored and brought to the American people the use of images from the Holocaust, actual photographs of the skeletal remains of people from the crematoria, in order to make a point about the health insurance bill."
"I can't believe that Congresswoman Bachmann would stand where she stood, and see those images, and not have the common decency to say, 'I disagree with the use of those images.' I think that she owes the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust an apology. She owes us all an apology. And I'm waiting. We're all waiting.

At a minimum, both the senate and the house should pass resolutions condemning this conduct and demeaning and denigrating the atrocities from the holocaust, 9/11, and all the other crap that they are doing. Make the repukes vote in favor of this conduct.
Remember general betrayus? That was patty cake compared to the outrageous sh*t going on. They passed a resolution condemning move on for THATTT? And they are doing nothing concerning this absurdity? Come on dems, get with the program.

No kidding. I'm sick and tired of this ignorant, non-sensical discourse from the right wing. Call them out as the fools they are. Make them OWN it.

Michael,
they have absolutely no depth of knowledge of the Nazis or the Holocaust.

You missed the "S," m'man. "She" Or I am mixed up.
She has done a good job BTW of eclipsing Palin as No. 1 Nut-Lady. She's always been mad a march hare, but she didn't used to draw Boehner misquoting the Co'sstution and holocaust psychos together to her events.

Good luck with that. This lady thinks her country is being taken over. She's not backing down or giving an inch until she's put into a straight jacket and in a room surrounded with bouncy walls.

Considering more than 60 Congressional Republicans showed up to the event, I think the Anti-Defamation League should call for an apology from the GOP.

yeah and what about Holy Joe? (cuz he's on board with the opponents of HCR, so does that mean he condones the Dachau posters?)

They'll say they didn't see it and can't control what signs were there. Wasn't there reports that "Nazi" was chanted when somebody on stage called Obama a socialist?
Also worth noting would be the remarks of Jon Voight and Cliff Claven who both spewed hatred while sharing the stage with the Congressmen and women.
You had Boehner and Cantor there - this was a Congressional Republican sponsored event.

I don't think Rep. Israel is really wanting an apology or waiting an "see" the response from Bachmann. No sane person would really expect Bachmann to oppose outlandish statements.
The effort here, I think, is to position himself as a leading "civil" voice in opposition to the "freakish" teabagging discourse and gain some political mileage while doing it.
He is up for reelection, and his positioning will not hurt his fundraising abilities with the progressives.

I think you're right that this is a positioning move by Rep. Israel. But in this case, it also happens to be the right thing to do (not that I think you were implying anything otherwise).

At some point, Democrats really ought to be able to work up a decent sense of outrage, and if this doesn't do it, I'm not sure what will. I'd like to see a House resolution condemning this; made a Senate resolution as well.
Sure its a time-waster, not to mention a political ploy. But its also a way of saying "Stop being such ASSHOLES!"

It's rather ironic that for years we couldn't see photos of the war dead returning in their flag-draped coffins but we can sure look at pictures from Dachau. Disrespect. Pure and simple.

Be careful. The knife cuts both ways. There were many, many Bush/Hitler signs at Dem rallies.
Do you really want these signs to resurface just as the Dems stand all high and mighty condemning the very thing the public has seen them do for years? Go ahead. Try it.
