The Sarah Palin roadshow rolls into Florida next week, and Democrats want to know if Palin will take any time off from Going Rogue to wade into the state's contentious GOP senate primary.
The DSCC sent Palin and open letter this afternoon calling on the former Alaska governor to take a stand in the race between Gov. Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio. The primary is swiftly becoming the next NY-23, with Rubio taking the role of insurgent Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman and Crist increasingly worried he'll be Scozzafavaed. In the New York race, Palin endorsed Hoffman, helping to lead what eventually became a sprint away from the GOP nominee by most national Republicans.
Now the DSCC wants to know -- will Palin do it again?
From the letter (signed by DSCC communications director Eric Schultz):
Dear Governor Palin,I noticed that you will be in Florida next week to promote your new book Going Rogue. As you know, Florida is home to a competitive Senate race, with either Governor Charlie Crist or former state House Speaker Marco Rubio to face off against Democrat Kendrick Meek. ... I know you are in three Florida cities next week, any of which would be the perfect setting to give your blessing to either Crist or Rubio. With the NY-23 special election over, many are now calling the Florida Republican Senate primary, "the next battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party." With so much at stake, everyone wants to know - who will you endorse in the Florida Senate race?
Palin is scheduled to hold a three-day swing through Florida on her book tour, starting at a Books-A-Million in Jacksonville on Nov. 24.
Late Update: Crist and Rubio weighed in on the possibility of a Palin endorsement in the race today. Read each candidate's take here.

Going R-O-G-U-E. Going Rouge is the competing anti-Palin book. I do wonder what the sales of Going Rouge are, I mean even Fox showed a picture of the wrong book.
Rogue vs Rouge.
And Palin will not back anybody until the winner is all but declared. She's a front runner, and learned her lesson in NY-23.

Palin can't back Crist since he accepted stimulus money in almost direct contrast to her refusal (he's a traitor to the true conservative cause). It'll be interesting to see if Rubio invites her to appear with/speak for him.

TPM needs to jump all over this one. When Celebrity Sarah left a bunch of her supporters at one book signing in the lurch, the crowd turned ugly, calling her "quitter" and chanting "sign our books!":

Why is the DSCC jerking off like this rather than working on getting the strongest possible candidate into the *Democratic* primary?
It's possible that Kendrick Meek is it. But he's also just a 4-term Rep who inherited Mom's political dynasty. And a little worry that an old goat like Maurice Ferre jumped in. One would rather see the DSCC focus on getting their own house in order and save their bombs at the GOP for the General Election.
Unless the DSCC is hoping that Palin backing Rubio (which seems likely) will drive Crist into the Dems arms. Because frankly that comes across like a DCSS move: rather than run a progressive candidate, find a Blue Dog like Crist.
