Sens. John Kerry (D-MA), Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have released a framework proposal to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 17% by 2020 -- though there are not yet specifics on how to do it. "The reason there's not specifics [being released] today is very specifically because of the process that we are honoring," said Kerry. "We don't want to jump ahead of the committee process."

Economists On Both Left And Right See Necessity Of Value-Added Tax
The New York Times reports that economists across the political spectrum say a value-added tax will become necessary, when the economy has recovered. "We have to start paying our bills eventually," said Charles E. McLure, a tax economist who worked in the Reagan administration. "This strikes me as the best and most obvious way of doing it."

Yes, Sarah-Why the President of the United States of America is up there accepting the Nobel Peace Prize instead of the former Governor of Alaska is a mystery.

It sure is. I mean, say what you will about Palin, but she hasn't escalated any wars. Give me grifting over killing any day.

To the senator who hasn't seen her family in weeks, due to job requirements: Please forward your complaint to our troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I first started getting into politics back in 2000, almost exclusively focused on environmental issues, and Joe Lieberman was one--yes, it's true--of my favorite congress people due to his admirably high LCV score and his early sponsorship of climate change regulation. Good to see he at least has retained those principles....

I guess this will be Lieberman's next betrayal.

His career is essentially one of stabbing people in the back on the important issues of the day.

Oh right, the fallen nature of man. I guess we just didn't get that blessing to protect us from witches like Palin got from her witch-hunter pastor.

The media is an enemy of America. It's a corporate tool that promotes and enables right-wing psychopaths like Sarah Palin. It's like a ronin version of Leni Riefenstahl wandering the country, begging authoritarian goons and Beckites to be charismatic and unprincipled on-air so they can use them to sell ad space.

I haven't had time to review anything about the Kerry/Lieberman/Graham proposal. But based on past experience, if Lieberman and Graham are involved in Climate Change legislation, you can count on the fact that the lobbyists for the fossil fuel and the nuclear industry are in fact writing the proposed legislation.

Furthermore, just on principle, Progressive Dems would do well to promise a boycott on ANYTHING sponsored by Lieberman - and prevent him gaining sponsorship of ANY legislation by unanimous consent as is the practice in the Senate. This jackass should be banished from the workings of the Senate in every procedural manner possible, and be thus encouraged to remove himself from the public teat and at last get himself on the insurance industry payroll where he belongs. He should then be informed by all Senators in the Dem Caucus that he must first meet with Bernie Sanders on ANY legislation he cares to lobby about on behalf of his corporate handlers - and that Sanders will have the say in whether anything Lieberman has to offer is worthy of consideration. And then make certain the Insurance Industry and the Israel Lobby is aware of THOSE rules as well so they understand just how toxic this corporate shill has become. Should be enough for them to cut both he AND his wife loose from the graft they have lived off of for so long. Who knows? Maybe the fucker would have to get a REAL job, although I sure as hell wouldn't hire such despicable and immoral scum as this howdy doodie clone who speaks like Droopy Dawg.

In the cesspool that is Washington, Lieberman is perhaps the most contemptible man in town. THAT'S quite an accomplishment worthy of recognition. The bastard should be in prison. If only graft and corruption were recognized as a crime in Washington these days, rather than simply being considered a standard way of doing business. (see Tom Daschle, et. al.)
