At a press conference this afternoon, RNC chair Michael Steele announced a new nationwide radio ad campaign he said would help to explain to voters the GOP position on health care reform. The promise he makes to voters? Republicans will do all they can to kill Democratic health care reform proposals.
Steele, from the ad's script:
"The Democrats are accusing us Republicans of trying to delay and stonewall their government takeover of health care. You know what? They're finally right."

The story isn't that the Republicans are trying to stonewall health care reform. Everyone and his sister already knew that six months ago. The real story is that they have already COMPLETELY SUCCEEDED in stonewalling health care, and it's largely because of weak leadership on the Democratic side.
Don't try and make the Republicans the bad guys when your own team never had a coherent strategy to stop what the other team was doing. Obama said that he wanted a bill out of Congress before the August recess. When that didn't happen, that's when reconciliation should have begun. Instead, he gave the Republicans another six months to make the public sick of the whole mess.

No, then the republicans would bitch about an "entitlement program" that never went up for a proper vote. This has given the Dems plenty of time to show the public who the bipartisans really are. It's also shown in bold relief where the weaknesses are in the Dem leadership. These are lessons that won't be lost in 2010.....maybe not even for a generation.
And thank you GOP for labeling health care.....like medicare.....an entitlement program. Kiss the seniors goodbye.

#1 the public doesn't give a %$#! who "the real bipartisans are." The public only cares about results. The only people who cares about the "real bipartisains" are the insurance companies who are bribing them handsomely to keep them that way - to make sure there is no real reform.
#2. I don't care whether the Republicans label health care reform an "entitlement" or "socialism" or "fascism" or whatever. And the fact that you care so much about it only shows that their tactics have worked on you.

Maybe you don't care, but a lot of people do. We're watching what's going on so we know who to vote out. That idea may be above your IQ, however.

The only people who care what the Republicans have to say about health care are:
#1 The drug companies and insurance companies who are paying them to say it.
#2 The tea-bagging loons who are dumb enough to listen. And by your homophobic avitar, I take you to be one of the latter.

Actually, I'm an Independent. And my avatar is a quote from an Electric 6 song attached to a funny picture. The song is satire on Bush's war policy...There's nothing homophobic about it. Maybe you should think before you throw around insults like that.
As to your other comment, you just proved my point. I live in a predominantly Republican state, so what they say should and does interest me. But nothing I say is going to make you remove your head from your ass, so...Good day.

#1 Your avitar makes a joke about gay bashing and that is homophobic.
#2 I already knew that you and your friends voted Republican. My point was that Democrats shouldn't destroy real health care just to try and please people like you. I'm sick and tired of people like you destroying this country.

...What are you talking about? I didn't vote Republican...I've NEVER voted for a Republican. I never hinted that I did either.
Look, I'm sorry if for some reason my avatar offends you. If it makes any difference, I'm an openly Bisexual female. But I explained the quote. It's a picture of a guy making a motion applicable to the line from the song. And the song is satire, not homophobic. If you can't accept that, then I'm sorry. But stop talking shit about me because you can't get your head out of your ass.

#1: If you were familiar with the reference and its background, you wouldn't be so quick to condemn. If it offends you, fine; you've made your point. But -- respectfully -- don't expect others to kowtow to you when you're not in possession of all the facts.
Kuyleh, I don't believe you owe anyone an apology, though it's certainly your own business whether or not you choose to offer one. FWIW, I've been familiar with the song for years, and I think it's hilarious. And I think your avatar's great.

My pop-up blocker "blurps" it out, and just gives me the little banner above TPM's story. But yeah, they can nix it.

Is fact as well that the majority of uninsured Americans live in Republican controlled states. Further proof that they don't care about their constituents one iota. All they care about is the money they are getting from lobbyists to kill health reform. Time to turn the GOP into the party of no party. If they want to be dissidents, they can do it from the sidelines. Make sure they don't get voted back into office. They are quickly taking us to Hell in a handbasket.

now wait a minute, the dems have majorities in both the house and senate. its not the repubs job to help them. look to the dems, they the ones screwing it up. nelson, lincoln, lieberman, etc..... they all dems. why don't you just blame bush too. by their own philosophy the repubs are against helping people, why would you think that would change now? no, its the dems screwing this up, from obama's 'hands off' policy to harry reid going to far, and causing nelson, lincoln, etc... to bolt. tell the truth, if the dems were together this would be over. personally, if it doesn't pass i'm blaming nixon. that makes as much sense as you blaming the repubs.

rstephen - Lighten up, Francis. Check out the song that Kuyleh is quoting and it should only take you a couple moments to realize that it's tongue in cheek humor, not gay bashing.
I'm a lib and I am also very interested in knowing what the Republicans are saying because there just so happen to be a lot of stupid people in this country that believe them. If I'm going to be able to rebut GOP non-sense, do I not need to at least know what they've said?
