The scheduled tea party "die-in" this morning didn't exactly live up to the hype. A group of tea partiers gathered this morning and "stormed" Senate offices as planned, but the crowd was smaller than at past events. As for the "dying" part, that didn't seem to play a large part in the event either. TPMDC noticed no deaths, fake or otherwise, while we were there.

The group that was there did travel far to make it, probably because there's another tea party event this afternoon sponsored by Americans For Prosperity, the business-backed charity that has paid for tea party buses in the past. Die-iners hailed from as far away as Washington state. Georgia had a large contingent, though unlike others in the group, they didn't go to visit their senators during the office storm. Instead, they tagged along with the lone tea partier from Connecticut on his way to visit Joe Lieberman.

"We're lucky -- our politicians aren't the bad ones," Joy McGann of Atlanta told TPMDC. "We figured we'd go with this man from Connecticut -- he's alone and he needs the help."

Though there weren't a lot of them, the tea partiers -- as always -- showed a lot of enthusiasm for their cause. Before they headed off to the Senate offices, they gave the media a first look at their very own Christmas carol.

Check out their performance of the "12 Days Of Obama":

Hey, I saw thousands of 'em gathered on the Mall! Let's not exaggerate their numbers into the millions.

Wow, so completely unoriginal and vapid one nearly allows the cheap Chinese-made WalMart clothing worn by nearly everyone in frame to escape detection...

According to Dr. Demento (who should know), "The 12 Days of Christmas" is the single most parodied song in the English language.

It was a long time ago but I remember learning about Alexis de Tocqueville in a college political science class. One of his hypotheses was that on an individual level most americans have the liberty and freedom to acquire what they need to live comfortably and for that reason America should not see any form of revolution. Though you have to wonder if the civil war could qualify as a revolution and maybe even say that the same motivations are behind the tea baggers complaints. But when I hear that that today's teabagger event was a bust I think it proves de Tocqueville's theory that people aren't that unhappy to make the effort

Why focus on the TEA party at all? It's irrelevant.

Nothing to see here, folks. Go on home.

What? Why? I thought St. Michele told them all to slit their wrists to stop health reform by making the halls of congress slick with their Christian martyr blood.

1. CONGRESS SPENDING TRILLIONS

What's new? Bush's trillion dollar unnecessary (and unpaid for) wars, tax cuts for the wealthy, and evisceration of government oversight of banks and financial institutions (leading to economic meltdown), are responsible for where we are now, not Obama. I don't like "socialism for Wall Street", and I'm not an economist, but apparently bailout was necessary to avoid an even worse-case scenario for the nation's masses, like that of the Great Depression following the '29 financial collapse, and which was responded to with insipid government intervention.

2. CZARS WITH POWER

What power? Don't be absurd. They are ADVISORS, which every President has had in history, nothing more. The term "Czar" was a journalistic acronym coined during Reagan, the first time (I believe) in reference to his appointment of a "drug Czar". Reminds me of the YouTube of the the Tea Party woman who asked the interviewer, "Are they going to be given land and stuff?"

3. A NATION of DEPENDENTS

That's right. Obama TRIED to give you a choice to liberate you from being bled by the MONOPOLY of private health care insurance providers, but you want the LIBERTY of staying DEPENDENDENT on THEM!

4. HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT

Again, due to eight years of bush and Republican obsession with "Reaganomics", debt, economic meltdown, etc., etc., etc.

5. NO END FOR EARMARKS

It was the egregious use of earmarks during Bush's administration, which raised them to such public scrutiny. However, the process has been long running and has tremendous inertia, and will not be "ended" dead in its tracks. In any case, this is a function of Congress, not the Executive. But Obama has voiced his opposition, but criticsm of him is misdirected and ridiculous.

6. MANDATORY HEALTH CARE

Obama didn't want to "mandate" anything, he wanted to give you a choice. Now, it appears, you will be "mandated" to continue to pay for insurance company CEO's long island mansions, in order to get health insurance.)

7. BANKRUPTCY LOOMING

Again, per Bush and Republican ideology and financial policy, et. al.

8. NO TRANSPARENCY

FOX News propaganda. The smallest claim to privacy by Obama is magnified, while Bush's institutionalized use of lies, deceptions and secret dealings, go unmentioned.

9. FED PRINTING DOLLARS

Critique of our monetary system, the Fed, international banking, etc., is beyond the scope here. But again, I guess the Fed never printed money until Obama took office.

10. BIG BAILOUTS

As started by Bush. Right or wrong? History will judge. But hardly a year from the "doom days" of 2008, the general prognosis of our economy seems to be better than then anticipated. Did we really have any choice?

11. WELFARE FOR ALL

Get real!

12. LOSS OF LIBERTY

Like what? Like having your government deny you the right to travel to other countries (for no MEANINGFUL reason), like Cuba? Like having your property seized for Eminent Domain, or not paying you property taxes? Like taking control of your body and forcing you to bear a child? Like being denied equal social and economic rights due to sexual orientation? Specifically, what "liberties" are you talking about? I guess your worried Obama is going to take away your fundamental, God given, inalienable Rights that REALLY matter, as defined by our Founding Fathers, like throwing a 4th of July bear party, or deciding where you'll go for summer vacation.

In closing:

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."

There was going to be a depression as a going away present from dubya. But the more enlightend of the bank club decided to delay the depression until they could vacuum any remaining assets from their good friends at treasury. Now we can have the depression.
It doesn't really matter that the teabaggers are pinheads. What matters is that they activly work to preserve the separation of american citizens so that the bank club can once and for all destroy freedom in america. Palin may lead them to a new civil war, or at least open season on some ethnic group(s). Who knows? You can't make sense of nonsense. The tools of control are stupidity, poverty, bad health and factional infighting. Let the stupid poor sick people fight among themselves. So off they go merrily merrily to stroke lieberman and keep themselves free of good health. We're lucky -- our politicians aren't the bad ones,"
Lardgawd, BillyBob. Good guys and bad guys?

If they were actually willing to die for their cause, I might start taking them seriously.

"Americans For Prosperity, the business-backed charity" -

Non-profit, maybe; hardly a "charity."
