Correction: State Sen. Scott Brown did not use the word "unfamiliar," that was how the Boston Globe characterized his remarks. But after watching video of the press conference where Brown was asked about the tea party movement, it appears he actually was unclear about the premise of the reporter's question, not the tea party movement itself.

State Sen. Scott Brown told reporters in Massachusetts today he was "unfamiliar" with the "Tea Party movement," despite earning the endorsement from one of the groups who is raising money for his campaign to win the U.S. Senate seat Tuesday.

According to the Boston Globe, Brown called himself a "Scott Brown Republican" that shouldn't be labeled conservative, liberal or moderate.

From the Globe piece:

"The allegation that I vote 96 percent of the time with Republicans is inaccurate, but I'm proud of the fact that I've stood up against out-of-control spending and taxation in Massachusetts," he said.

He also claimed that he was unfamiliar with the "Tea Party movement," when asked by a reporter.

As TPM has reported, the Tea Party Express endorsed Brown last week.

Early this morning Tea Party Express organizers asked for donations to help Brown:

"We are in a fundraising drive so that we can buy as many TV ads supporting Brown as possible," they wrote to supporters.

"We must take action, for if we can pull out a victory, we stop the Democrats dead in their tracks in their effort to secretly ram through their socialistic healthcare plan," they wrote. "That's because Scott Brown wholeheartedly opposes the Democrat's government-run healthcare plan and has made his opposition to it a central part of his campaign."

#1-70 Hayden Woods, Wrentham, MA: A 3,000 squared-foot single-family house that is the current principal residence of Brown and his family. The house lies off a cul-de-sac in a recently developed neighborhood near a small lake is nearby. According to financial disclosures, it is valued at $100,000 or more.

#2-1840 Commonwealth Avenue #11-14, Brighton, MA 02135. In October 2007 Brown and wife Gail purchased what property records indicate is two condominium units at 1840 Commonwealth Avenue in the Brighton neighborhood of the city of Boston. The assessed value for #11 is $60,000 to $100,000; for #14 it is $100,000 or more

#3-1870 Commonwealth Avenue #8, Brighton, MA. Brown's 2008 SFI reports ownership of this unit, with a net income derived from it of $1,001 to $5,000. The property itself is valued at $100,00 or more

#4-33 Ocean View Ave. Rye, NH. This property is listed as Brown's second home with an asset value greater than $100,000.

#5-Aruba Timeshare. Brown and presumably his wife have a timeshare on the island that is valued at $10,001 to $20,000

But he has 200K on a truck, so he's an everyman regular joe just like the rest of us.

You can't be serious! A house worth $100K?

That would not even pay for a garage these days.

In Brighton, it might get you a shed. It's unlikely you could find an abandoned tear-down there for that price.

It says its worth $100,000 OR MORE.

I've seen pictures of that house and it is worth AT LEAST 750,000. Property values in MA are very high.

Wow progressives are so desperate to label and tag people so they can attack them.
And it's so much FUN to watch them flounder and try to name this one or that one the 'head' which they have so far been unable to do because there IS none.

The tea party is more popular than the Democommies and Republicraps... and they are free to give money to whomever they wish.

This coming from the party that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the utopian totalitarian-loving nightmare of a Nazi-enabler George Soros.

It's also fun to see them go freakin' ape sh** when ever Palin is mentioned.

TEA PARTY - PALIN
TEA PARTY - PALIN
TEA PARTY - PALIN
TEA PARTY - PALIN
TEA PARTY - PALIN
TEA PARTY - PALIN

More popular than Marxism.

Look NH: lies are lies. Do you really believe that Brown has NEVER heard of the Tea Partiers? Really? And that was the whole point of this article.

Your comment is so fervently partisan, without explaining specifically what your programs are. Everyone is the enemy of your party if they are not part of your party.

I wonder, using your gift of artistic language craft, would that make you a

TEA BAG ATOLLAH?

Liar, liar, pants on fire. Salon's Mike Madden catches Brown - http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2010/01/13/brown_tea_party/index.html

WASHINGTON -- Since Saturday, the group behind TeaPartyExpress.org has spent at least $32,000 supporting Scott Brown, the Republican candidate for the Massachusetts Senate seat, federal records show. Brown's own campaign Web site highlights a fundraiser held a couple weeks ago called the "Friends of the Tea Party Scott Brown reception," where paying $500 earned supporters the label "American Revolutionary" (for a mere 25 bucks, you could be a "Patriot").

Brownie posed nude with his hairy crotch for nudie mags. Now, everyone knows that nude male models are queer. This guy strangely reminds me of McGreevey (the former gov. of NJ caught having a gay affair).

Now I know why.
